Is Nicki Minaj a true artist?

I think Nicki can be and will be taken seriously until she becomes a more warn person. I think she just throws way to much shade (which isn't a bad thing) and that's what causes people to disrespect her. :wtf:

And who is to dictate what is beautiful? Cus many people think Nicki is very beautiful. And just because her female body and her urban imagery isn't beautiful or aesthetically pleasing to you that doesn't mean she isn't an artist..

Did you read the OP? I'm on her side. The thread poses the question of why is she so disrespected and generally looked down upon when she is obviously the queen of rap (her own genre) and there is no disputing that. Yet people act as if she was a manufactured mindless slave

She'll never be a true artist for me personally, I mean I love her and her music, its just different. A true mature artist should inspire, that is the main thing. Guess I already sold my soul to someone whose tons more creative, motivating, inspiring and down-to-earth. I luv gags :flutter:

I honestly thinks she's a liar and hypocrite. Her voice annoys me, her sound is completely un-appealing to me and she's just a turn off in general. If she wanted to become serious, then she should have never done some of the things she did in the beginning of her career.

But when you have examples of true artists you picked two and they were both white women from the same genre. Sorry i figured you weren't sold on the idea yet, ignore my argument then it's for the people who truly don't get it

I actually loved The Pinkprint. I have given up on her as an artist because of her attitude. I just cannot separate the two. Still, she is a talented woman. I just wish she would fix her tongue. She is not the Queen of Rap. I might give her the title of Queen of Pop/Rap. The actual status of Queen of Rap belongs moreso to Lil' Kim and Missy Elliot.

Why do you think Anaconda is such a great work of art? I'm genuinely baffled as to why some people think this is a good song. For one thing, it's too heavily sampled. Around the halfway mark, it's nothing but pure sample with an extra sound effect added in and massive portions of the song don't involve any new work, just snippets of Baby Got Back. And Nicki just nonsense rambles and laughs obnoxiously at the end. These 2 things in themselves make it really bad and unoriginal, before we even get to the sexist (which it seems to think it isn't) lyrical content.

I'm so happy she released The Pinkprint to shut all of the people saying that she can't have some good lyrics. The album is TRULY consistent but still has lots of fans. For anyone who says she doesn't evoke emotion, Grand Piano says hi. The critics ate this album up as did some of the general public once they got around to listen to the actual tracks besides Anaconda and Only. She is the Queen of Rap.

I think Nicki's potential to be a real artist should be taken seriously. She came into the industry from a genuine place and what seems to be a compassionate desire to care for her family.

A lot of her music and visuals don't strike me as "ARTIST," but I know enough about her and have read enough of her lyrics to know she has it in her. I just don't think she has committed 100% to her work as an art instead of a product.

EDIT: And furthermore- when I think of the "Kings" of Rap, I don't think Nicki brings enough to the table and does enough to rightfully stand by their side as the "Queen" of rap. I'll save that spot for women like Missy Elliott.

No. How would anybody be taken seriously with songs like Roman Holiday, Come on a Cone, Stupid Hoe & Starships?

We shouldn't take Gaga seriously at all with songs like LoveGame, Heavy Metal Lover & Sexxx Dreams

Such a failed logic :toofunny:
