Remember, everyone, our opinions mean nothing. The official list is decided by the Time editors. In previous years, they put in people who got tons of no votes and were at the bottom of the list and didn't put in people who were voted into third place. I don't know why they even bother letting the public have a voice if they're not going to listen to it. Back in 2010, Gaga got her first nomination on this list and it was a s***storm. I don't know how many original members here are still around now to remember it but it was crazy. Back then, you didn't need to sign in to vote, people could leave comments and teams were forming and encouraging the public to vote for their favourite, haters voted a zero influential rating multiple times on the ones who were winning, there were rumoured to be illegal vote operations set up so certain people's votes came in at an astonishing rate, there was huge political debate over the Iranian who won it...it was a mess.

And thing is, everyone thought it meant something. That if your fave won, their face would be on the cover (wrong, that's for Person Of The Year, the Time 100 puts multiple people on the cover and not necessarily the winners) that if your fave didn't win, there would be a chance that they wouldn't get put on the list. It was all nonsense. Gaga appeared on the list and on the cover regardless of what happened - it had been planned and shot for months, as where all the other candidates who appeared. After that, Time changed the voting system. You could only pick a yes or no option (no more giving an influential rating) and you could no longer leave comments. Now you even have to sign in to make it even more secure. Basically, it's eliminated all the chances for argument now because it was simply too much back then. I don't even bother voting now. It means absolutely nothing. If the magazine want someone to be on the list, they will, whether the public like it or not and vice versa.

I remember this! Someone posted a link back then on Facebook and people basically declared war with other fan bases :air: It was incredibly messy on the Time website. People were wishing death threats and whatnot.

It wasn't just fighting with other fanbases. There was political controversy going on because of what the Iranian candidate meant to lots of Iranians. They believe he lost his presidency campaign through vote rigging and hoped that winning this poll might bring his name to the forefront and make him the rightful president. That's how wild things were getting. It was quite sad, really, that some people seriously believed this would change their country and had pinned so much false hope on a silly little poll that didn't mean anything. No wonder Time changed the system after that. I mean, I know politics is part of their magazine, but that was just too dramatic, even for them.

Yo GagaGaga

most of the polls have been fixed, Trump is mostly no, Gaga and Malala are mostly yes. Gaga will definitely get in the top 100 at least, she's one of the few who have the yes majority
