I can tell so far since ARTPOP they are really thinking and changing things, being clever and to be the best, exciting! I think she definitely needs some hype, I think it'll be hard to start an era without it and it'll probably make the era seem short. For the lead single, she should just stay simple and do it like Adele and Coldplay last year and have a short amount of time (I'd leave it at a week) putting little things out there like a clip on the telly like Adele, or little things on her twitter and posters or clips like coldplay did and at the end of that week release the single and a few details about the album as well as a pre-order. Then I can't decide whether I'd rather have the album release a month after the lead single like Adele and Coldplay, as that seems to be the main way now, or have her release a promo single a month after the lead and then the album a month after that.
