Chelseaaaaaa 1,453
I always said if she didn't "make it" with Electra Heart then she never will and I stand by that. It had EVERYTHING. Like, literally it was the ideal pop record for the gp from an aesthetic point all the way to her music. I'm still shocked it never took off. Who else can have an alter ego inspired by Sylvia Plath and still make it fun? I like her a lot, although I didn't enjoy FROOT very much and felt the marketing was too gimmicky. I saw her live this year (as well as in 2013) and I had a good time but it's obvious the passion was gone. It has been for awhile. She doesn't even want to be bothered with her fans anymore (nonetheless music). The success Lana found should've been Marina. Del Rey was able to transcend past internet fame; not Marina. I don't blame her for being discouraged but I'd like to think one day she will return and have something new to say.

She was just in South America and met fans outside of her hotel and after her shows every single night........ She's not meeting fans AS frequently as a few years ago because her fanbase has grown tremendously and it's getting overwhelming for her. In the early Electra Heart era she only had a couple people waiting after show. So it wasn't hectic to go say hi to them. Now she has a MASSIVE screaming crowd of hundreds of fans waiting to meet her after every show. At the airports in South America she was literally mobbed by fans. I was shocked! It looked like she was someone of Gaga's level of fame. That kind of fame is stressful and isn't for everyone...so it's understandable if she doesn't throw herself into those crowds every single night... Xaylan 1,326
Why is everyone saying Froot is underwhelmed or not good? She literally wrote and composed every song on there by herself. Not a single artist today can do that.

youandi 2,110
I love her to bits but can people stop crying? She's said today that it's not goodbye, she's just taking a break from the same old for a while to persue other things.
Shadow 6,632
It would be disheartening and sad if she does, she has a fresh voice, something different from the music industry. Do your own research.
Lona Delery 7,216
She just said in a Twitter Q&A that it wont be a goodbye after all, only a short break. Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

DietCoke 386
She did some long talk at a college saying she's be taking a break, not leaving music altogether. She also talked about going into acting for a bit.
Infinity Wave 7,635
Hi everyone! In one of her last interviews, Marina and the Diamonds has confirmed that she IS actually taking a break from the music industry. She says she hasn't been writing for long now and she is not planning anything music-related for her future career. I'm very sad about this, because I love her so much and her music sound always so fresh and fun, I love listening to her three albums non-stop! On one hand, I understand her, she is tired of traveling and promoting and she wants to be 'free' for some time, but on the other hand I just wish that this break doesn't last long. Here is the video of the interview: [minute 1.25] Credits: http://papelpop.com Here one of the answers of the Q&A of yesterday on twitter: So, Diamonds, how do you feel about it? Chelseaaaaaa 1,453
Her heart has visibly not been in music for awhile now. She's a great physical artist so perhaps that will be her new venture. I'd be sad if she never returned to music but Marina wouldn't be the first artist to go down this route. Keep in mind she can still write and record music without actually releasing anything. If the problem is now disliking fame or sadness over a lack of success I'd actually expect her to pull a John Frusciante here. Your artistry doesn't exactly end when you leave the business. She will always be a singer-songwriter but gifting the public with those songs may not happen again. If she doesn't want to do this anymore on a wide scale then I hope she pulls a Kate Bush and comes back in 10+ years selling records left and right, a ton of acclaim, sold out shows, etc. That'd be a great comeback for her and perhaps the only way she'd like to reenter the spotlight at this point.
