Let's just see, maybe it's ''only'' 2 years. I know it sucks because you're a hardcore stan, but i truly believe she won't be gone for over 5 years

PinkJelly 1,769
This is really sad. I hope she takes time to live her life a little, whatever that may be for her, buying a house in the mountains, starting a family, training for a new career etc. Perhaps then she will come back to writing organically once she has had some more life experiences and begins to miss that urge to write. Iwontell 7,312
I think in the end this "break" is only going to mean a 3 to 4 years waiting period for her next album, which is pretty standard actually...I don't think she'll just walk away... ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.
Creyk 17,822
It's fine, the original, Lana Del Rey is still active and actually working on a brand new album right now. We have enough people trying to copy her style nowadays anyway.

Supersonic 49,376
Why y'all gotta link this to sales numbers, do y'all have nothing else intelligent to talk about? She's turning 31 this year, and as you get older you just start to realize that maybe what you wanted at age 23 is not the same thing you want at age 30. She sufferes from social anxiety and is extremely introverted who joked about not being able to socialize until she has had 3 shots of vodka. And the only way to make money off your music nowadays is touring and ripping off your fans by making them pay 1k for a meet & greet. It was only a matter of time until she realized that making a living off your music is nearly impossible if you're an introvert.

The break between the Electra Heart era and the Froot era was about 1.5 years. And during the EH era she was actively writing and planning for Froot. At the end of the Froot era, she currently has not written anything and has absolutely ZERO plans for a future album. She's not just gonna bust out a new album in a 1-2 years having absolutely nothing started at this point. At EARLIEST, she may put an album out in 3-4 years.....but that's if she realizes in the next year's that she misses the music industry and starts writing and planning.....which I don't see happening tbh. She did a Q&A yesterday in which she said she's really tired of the artist lifestyle of having to tour constantly and just enjoys living a normal life in one place. Maybe in several years she will come back with something new. But what I'm most worried about is that she will realize just how much she loves being a normal person and realizes that she never wants to return to the music industry..... freebit 6,240
I doubt she'll stay away for too long. I imagine the rush of performing and creating is too addictive for most artists. I get where she's coming from with her remark about being 30, but it's really not that old. Drake said something similar once about how he didn't want to be a rapper in his mid 30s and hoped to move back into acting and making different music other than rap by that age. His explanation was that rap relies too much on being youthful. I can see that since there's not many rappers whose work held up as they grew older, but I feel like that has more to do with those rappers getting too rich, successful, complacent, and thus out-of-touch. Anyway, pop music is so broad, so I don't see why one can't still have the material grow with them? I feel like Marina's brand of pop is layered and meaningful enough to not seem stupid coming from a thirty-something. Also, hardcore LDR stans in this post...
