It's not just a lack of promo, it's the fact that she's only making it available to music streaming services. Why doesn't she have an official lyric video or even audio on her official Vevo channel? I genuinely don't understand why artists are using this form of release these days. It doesn't reduce piracy, it increases it, for when you can't listen to it for free or have to sign up to some sort of service to hear it, most people baulk and find an illegal way to listen to it. I'm not a member of any streaming service, I only use YouTube or any other site which streams without you having to sign up to the site. Because I believe music should be free to listen to in order for us to judge if it's worth buying and shouldn't be made exclusive. If she'd released it to all formats, especially YouTube, it would have blown up. Katy Perry's Birthday lyric video has more views than her actual official music video, by the way. Lyric videos are big business. Someone who's in one hit wonder territory should really consider doing more to boost their liklihood of success. The song also is also only charting in 4 countries thus far and looking up the song's description, she's not made it available worldwide. Another bizarre decision. I guess she maybe wants to make it international just before the music video hits. But then that means her international audience could just illegally download in that time. We're past this age of pre-ordering and different release dates for different countries. It's all about on air/on sale now. If that's not made available, the audience gets tetchy.

So let me get this straight, Rihanna's number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 because of the amount of streaming?  If so, do views on You Tube of the audio or video of the song count the same as when listening to the song on Spotify, Pandora or Google Play Music?  Can someone with knowledge please clarify that for me, please?

yes, this was recently changed. when LG5 comes you better watch and stream the **** out of cause they now count as sales too

I don't have Spotify or Pandora.  You did say watching the audio or video of the song on You Tube counts for streaming in order for Gaga to chart on the BB Hot 100, right?

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

Thank you!  I will be sure to stream the f*ck out of her lead single so she not only gets the views, but also is able to chart well on the BB Hot 100.   ;)

So if I go to You Tube right now and have Work on repeat the entire day, is that going to count for the BB Hot 100 chart position?

I think it counts only upto 100 views a day

basically even fan uploads will count if it is labeled under music
