DiscoHeaven23 35,007
When I first heard Ariana Grande's voice on the radio in the summer of 2013, with her song "The Way", I knew she was a Disney or Nickelodeon star or something (it had been years since I watched either channel so I didn't know). I remember rolling my eyes and thinking "Oh great, another kiddie star trying to make it big in the music industry". While it was stunning how much she sounded like Mariah Carey, I kinda looked over her and the rest of her "Yours Truly" era because I thought I was too old for her music. Just before "Problem" came out I started to find myself really intrigued by Ariana. She had gotten so pretty and I was really interested to see where her career would go. When "Problem" came out, I was hooked on it. I remember watching her perform it at the iHeart Radio Music Awards (you know, the one where Rihanna giggled at her) and thinking how cute and talented she was. I remember when "Break Free" came out and how I loved it even more than "Problem". This girl was quickly becoming my new fav. When Ariana's brother got picked to be on Big Brother, I was so excited cuz that was my show. However, this is where things started to change. For the first month Frankie was great on Big Brother, but then his true colors started to show and I found it hard to tolerate him. That same summer an article came out (i think on Buzzfeed) about Ariana's diva behavior. Apparently she demanded to be carried around, was rude to a photographer and something else relating to Victoria Justice. After seeing the way Frankie acted, I found the article believable. I soon found my love fest for Ariana declining. I didn't dislike her, i just wasn't crazy about her anymore. Then donut gate came in the summer of 2015, and that's when I was like "eww, no to this girl. She is so spoiled and rude". She became one of my least favorite singers. When "Focus" came out and flopped, I was kinda happy it did to be honest. I was hoping she would just go away. Last month, when Ariana voiced her support for Kesha, I found my heart open up to her a little bit. I also found myself feeling bad for her because Scooter seemed to desert her for Justin Bieber. When "Dangerous Woman" dropped on Friday, I liked the song. I didn't LOVE it, but I liked it. The song has since grown on me in the short time since its release. After tonight's SNL appearance, I have to say that I find myself liking Ariana again. Whatever you have to say about her, you can't deny her talent. Her vocals are major. I really felt that she gave it her all for her appearance on SNL tonight. She seemed determined to make everything flawless so she could regain the star power she had in 2014. Ariana has won back a fan and I look forward to seeing what comes next for her.
Blade 5,603
Such a nice story I've been a fan of hers since late 2010, when she had red hair and posted covers on YouTube. I always knew that she's gonna be a big star one day and now here she is, hosting and performing on SNL. Even though I'm a huge fan of hers, I just KNOW that some of the 'diva' rumors were a little bit true. Because her grandpa died at the time when Break Free came out and that's when she started "acting" cold and "bossy". She wasn't really being a Diva, she was just very heartbroken but needed to keep working.
zakariah 11,718
Cool story I became a fan of Ariana during the Yours Truly era, especially after listening to Tattooed Heart. The vocals on that song omg I became an even bigger fan during the My Everything era. Almost all the songs on that album were bops I didn't really care for any of the diva rumours/donut-gate incident, 'cos I cared mostly abt her music. Then Focus came out & I loved it even though lot's of ppl thot it sucked (although i was pretty let down by the anti-climatic chorus ) Now that Dangerous Woman is coming soon, i'm super eggcited for it huehuehue. I alrdy learned most of the melody for Dangerous Woman (song) & Be Alright is a bop too So yeah that's my story 👍🏻
