lavenderblondee 3,695
Nope. Every song on past albums doesn't have to be deep and have profound meaning about her rape. I feel like people are looking too hard into it, JD is a fun party song. Gaga said so herself she wrote the song in like ten minutes after partying and it was before she was even signed onto the label. Monster on the other hand seems more obvious, but obviously isn't confirmed, so who knows. She said so herself she didn't even really come to terms with the rape or realize what really happened until years later.

This premise the OP has requires we take Just Dance extremely literally as a song. It's hard to do, because people focus on different aspects of the song to identify with. For me , the sound itself is all encompassing, I dont identify with the lyrics too much because I don't party like that too often, but if one were to be loose and party and drink and get absentminded I suppose this would be a great song for that... I could be reaching into the abyss of my memory but I could swear I read somewhere that Gaga and RedOne had written it in something like ten minutes or something. Sister 9,907
At least she could have been getting "black out" drunk to deal with her lifestyle at the time and to appear able to cope and fake a kind of happiness. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

She wrote the song while on the plane to Hollywood after her going away party in which she got obliterated drunk and then when she arrived to Hollywood she went to the studio with redone and they finished the song and wrote other songs like Poker Face, Lovegame, I Like It Rough, and Paper Gangsta. This was all done in January 2008.

This proves she was raped around 10 years ago when she died her hair and started her career. I'm Skinny Gaga was associated with many eating disorders 10 years ago. PTSD? I'm Rich Her abuser could have taken everything from her. But he can never take away her destined Fame. And I'm a little bit of a bitch. Gaga will one day come for this Man like a Hurricane when he least expects it. JesseBabe 837
While I think your take on the song is really interesting, I don't think the song has anything to do with rape. If you've ever been sloppy drunk at a party or club, you would understand the lyrics to the song. I never thought the song was about her meeting a guy and him raping her. It literally just sounds like she's having a little too much fun and might be slighting browning out. Side note: I also don't think the song Monster has anything to do with rape either. To me, it sounds like she met this really hot guy at the club and her friend tried to warn her about him being a player or whatever but she chose not to listen and went ahead and got involved with him, and she ended up falling for him on a romantic level and he just wanted to bone. I don't think that every song in her discography is about sexual abuse.

rivingtonreb 438
1 hour ago, Strigoi said: So, I was listening to Just Dance the other day and a really dark thought came across my mind. Is "Just Dance" about rape (or more specifically, hers)? According to Gaga she was raped 10 years ago, which means she was assaulted sometime in 2006. I am beginning to believe that she wrote this song about being raped and covered it up with an upbeat melody and production. Her own way of turning something beautiful out of the ugly. Maybe this is a reach or maybe i'm right. Either way, let's breakdown the lyrics: "I've had a little bit too much, much All of the people start to rush. Start to rush by. A dizzy twister dance Can't find my drink or man. Where are my keys? I lost my phone, phone." Right off the bat we know that Gaga is out in public with a man. Then suddenly, after (supposedly) having too much to drink, she begins feeling dizzy and her vision begins to blur. Now she can't even find her date and now her phone and keys are missing. Was something put into her drink? Did the man purposely take her phone and keys so she couldn't escape? "What's going on, on the floor? I love this record, baby, but I can't see straight anymore. Keep it cool, what's the name of this club? I can't remember but it's alright, a-alright." Her paranoia is kicking in, she really doesn't know where she's at. She's trying to calm her self down and not panic but it's hard. "Just dance. Gonna be okay. Da-doo-doo-doo Just dance. Spin that record babe." So now she's trying to hit the dance floor to distract herself from what's going on. She's using the familiarity of the song that's playing as a way to calm down. "Wish I could shut my playboy mouth. How'd I turn my shirt inside out, inside out right? Control your poison, babe "Roses have thorns," they say. And we're all gettin' hosed tonight." This is where things get disturbing. Somewhere in the midst of dancing she realizes that her shirt is inside out. She's doesn't remember taking off her own shirt. She tries to forget about it by dancing it off when her abuser finally finds her. "[Colby O'Donis] When I come through on the dance floor checking out that catalogue. Can't believe my eyes so many women without a flaw. And I ain't gonna' give it up, steady tryna pick it up like a car I'ma hit it, I'ma hit it and latch onto it until tomorrow, yeah Shorty I can see that you got so much energy The way you twirling up them hips 'round and 'round And there is no reason at all why you can't leave here with me In the mean time stay, let me watch you break it down." This is where I got sick to my stomach. Finally after escaping his clutches, her abuser has finally found her on the dance floor. He says he's not gonna give her up so easy, that's he's going to continue "hitting it" until tomorrow cause she's got so much energy. He says there's no reason for her NOT to leave without him, but that's because he's drugged her, stolen her keys, and took her phone. For now he sickly watches her dance, waiting for the moment to lunge at her like a predator. Thoughts? VERY interesting way to look at it but I think you may be looking too hard. Great analysis though... pretty sure it's just a simple fun song. GOH sweetie
