This was refreshing because unlike the other performances of this song she actually used her higher notes and still managed to belt quite nicely. It is also what unified the overall feel of this performance, and that we don't know how survivors feel until it happens to you.

Welp, for me, her taking that chorus up an ENTIRE octave sets it at the top of the list for TIHTY performances. It was incredible. She hit every high not so effortlessly.

I agree completely. Not understanding how some felt the vocals were mediocre at times...

Her choice to sing so high at 2:30, to me, was the right choice. That is not easy to do. She is right on pitch and sounds as clear as a bell. It was one of, if not THE MOST favorite performance of TIHTY.

I'll be honest by saying that the first time I watched the performance I wasn't impressed and I thought her vocals were shaky and off tune. Than few hours later I decided to watch her again..and then I was blown away. I got shivers all over my body and this time everything sounded so much better, raw, emotional and powerful.

I think it's her strongest performance to date, and that probably also has to do with them cutting it short - the bridge has so much emotion and they could just show that immediately here, it was captivating.

only thing I'm not sure about is the sound editing, her piano seems to go up and down in relation to the background which is such a shame, they should have sorted their **** out.

the billboard awards performance was great, but this really hit it home for me what Gaga and Diane were pushing for I think, beautifully done.

(Also it kiiiiind of bothers me that she needed to take that breath for the note at the end but she kept the note so it's all good)

The vocals were excellent at the beginning, her D5 was awesome.  At 2:30 and on it was pure emotion, the belts weren't too strained, and didn't sound throaty. I'm amazed that she could finish the song,  at one point I thought she would start crying and she wouldn't be able to finish.

Gaga did an amazing job so I don't know what the problem is.  It was clear that she was emotional because of what she's been through and with the men and women around her has been through.  Because it was so emotional for her, it came through her voice, which to me, made her sound so amazing.  People obviously heard that and they in turn got emotional themselves.  Now That's a REAL performance.

Exactly. She does not usually sing that high, it was very special. That note alone made me emotional tbh. It was fantastic.

She was singing through tears so her voice wasnt as pitch perfect as it could have been. The " till it happens to you" part at the end was a scream almost, which wasnt very pleasant to hear. But, the emotion she conveyed during this performance was so gripping and real. She didnt need to sound perfect. She needed to show her anger, pain, and power, so the screaming made sense in that context, though maybe she could have made the till it happens to you part sound a tad prettier.

I thought she did amazing but I would of preferred the whole song instead of shortened like it was rushed Im glad she put raw emotion into the performance and spreading a message about sexual assualts

It was beautiful and amazing! The emotion and the passion Gaga had for this song and for the survivors was truly awe-inspiring.

And, I agree that 2:30 was probably the best part of the entire performance. I'm not sure if it was a key change or if she just sang the song an entire octave or both, but it was incredible!

Couldn't agree more, I think that the vocals adeed even more emotions to the song

It was raw and full of emotion, I didnt like they skiped the second verse, the lyrics in that part are beautiful, "...you tell me hold your head up, and be strong, cause when you fall you gotta get up and move on..." :flutter: the new high note was breathtaking, the performance got me into tears, and then loosing the award was just too much ... But it was a win for us... And now #LG5 is closer :gaycat:
