Gaga loses Oscar

I'm not surprised that she lost, but Sam Smith's song is really awful. She could have lost to any other guy and I wouldn't have been mad, but PLEASE. Writing's On The Wall is without a doubt one of the worst Bond themes. Compared to Goldeneye, Die Another Day or even Skyfall, Sam Smith's song is weak as ****.

Edit : Oh btw, a real winner for this category would have been Love Me Like You Do if it had been nominated.

Honestly, this Sam bashing needs to stop.

First off, I have never seen so many bitter people on this site at one time. Yes, Gaga and Diane deserves the award more than anything because the song had a true message. But can y'all at least show some type of happiness for his win?

I'm happy that he won. Mean I prefer Gaga getting the award than him, but I'm happy for the success that he has, even if he had something to do with getting the award.

I just feel like I have to stick up for him because of this negativity.

This mutual gaze was a “longing to touch” or a "pre-coitus" stare.

Everyone here has forgotten that Sam Smith is a true Little Monster, a part of our little family. He gave a shout out to Lady Gaga. Moreover, he credits her for inspiration and has always mentioned her as one of his idols.

He is not to be blamed. If anything, blame the Academy - the people actually responsible for who won and who didn't. Please don't let your disappointment get to the better of you. Whether you think Sam Smith deserved it or not, he won. Instead of being bitter about it, let's applaud him as a fellow monster for having achieved something great.

Personally I loved WOTW. Not the best song ever in the Bond theme history, but in and of itself, it's a great song. I enjoyed it thoroughly. While I do think TIHTY deserved that Oscar, I'm okay with the loss. I feel bad for Diane, though; hopefully 9's the lucky number for her. And perhaps 2's the lucky number for Gaga. I'm optimistic that she will sing another original song in the future for a major motion picture.

Sam is a talented artist no doubt, but that song sucked and did not deserve to win. I don't love TIHTY either, but it was better than that hot mess.

Gaga should have won, but we can not really complain, she has had a great run of all of this and she still has come out a winner and a great and caring talent, she has really proved that she is worth it to all those besides us, who did not know or believe it. Gaga's performance was also incredible and moving and she was also a great sport after losing. Now we will have our great times as true fans to look forward to, her new album material and everything that goes along with it.

Sam Smith seems like a great person and is talented, I won't complain.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

The Academy ditched the 3 biggest favourites and prefered a song that wouldn't even get nominated and was at #6 or #7 in the beginning..

Is it just me or is this kinda strange?

Strange? Yes. Surprising? Given the Oscars track record, not so much. They've awarded mediocrity many times before, perhaps more than true greatness.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have yet to hear one music critic or casual listener, in any context, rave about WOTW. From the very beinning, the response was middle of the road.

Anyway, Gaga has now given two iconic Oscars performances in a row, and Sam's song will be forgotten about in a matter of months.

I don't think is bad that people are unhappy because he won, it's just normal, what should stop however is the bashing of a talented artist. Yes, most of us agree that Sam did not deserve to win but it's not his fault, and I'm sure deep down he knows it. The negativity is unnecessary.

I won't lie, I definitely thought Diane and Gaga deserved the win, but the decision was made and there is nothing that can be done about it. What we should be focused on is her brilliant performance that night and the fact that the song is receiving so much praise and love with the GP. The message is powerful and resonating among the public. This is the intent of the song, this was the primary goal of both Diane and Gaga, everything else is just icing on the cake.

Congrats on an amazing night regardless! :)

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Which happiness? An ugly messageless song won over a song about rape and Diane Warren, the biggest female songwriter of all time (well, maybe this century) lost his 8th GRAMMY award to it. What do you expect?

Look at the bright side. Those people who were raving about how Gaga has been buying awards can't say **** about last night. Despite not being able to perform the song in full, Gaga was able to perform "Til It Happens to You" beautifully and bring more attention to the cause, that having been the main point of the song from the start. Furthermore, this snub might be more memorable for people than a win would have been; people's expectations of her winning the award were not met. Overall, this sucked, but nothing made Gaga look bad in any way.

I know that these points have already been made in the myriad of threads on this topic, but I know that some of us are still seething. Let's be positive, guys.
