Their song wasn't attached to a big-budget film or anything, and it's message has really resonated with people on a global scale. The power and impact of the message is why this song has ultimately been a success for Gaga and Warren. Not to say Sam Smith is any less deserving; he's so amazing. Its not like The biggest travesty ever, 'cause c'mon its not like TIHTY is The master piece of The century as a composition (well neither is Writing on The wall).
