Alien Tulip 12,428
My grandfather is a die hard David Bowie fan and I grew up listening and watching David Bowie. Gaga's performance felt more like a parody than a tribute. It wasn't a "BAD" performance but there was a sense of desperateness and contrive in the performance. I kinda understand why Duncan and some David Bowie fans didn't enjoy Gaga's performance.

You apparently missed the gigantic holographic Bowie image at the end. Gagas tribute was a celebration, not a dirge. Neither one is better or worse just different. They complement each other well actually.
StarstruckIllusion 52,267
not this alone, but if the media and every persons who accosictes themselves with Bowie is trying to make me hate him and happy's he dead and gone, they should pat themselves on the back. I'll go back to forgetting who he has in 5 minutes, k bye. EDIT: Idek why I'm bothered. The only thing I originally wanted from this tribute was more Gaga praise, and We got it so
IamChromatica 2,025
I hope only bowie fans are hating on gaga and it doesn't spread... Then again, I wish for the tributes to be forgotten...
LaLuna 12,732
Why is it a competition? In the end, it was just two awards shows paying tribute to Bowie in different ways. That's it. Which one was better is a matter of personal opinion. Ugh. I almost wish Gaga hadn't done that tribute, I feel she's getting more hate than praise for it. Why am I even bothered, it's just f*cking NME
Whispering 18,865
Eh, a couple of articles vs dozens of others praising Gaga. Why can't both artists be appreciated for what they brought to remembering someone they idolized...someone who brought so much artistry to the world? Bowie was so diverse, so unique...both the tributes showed a different side of his artistry. This competition is ridiculous!
Runway 27,876
All i read is "we are pressed by TALENT so we'll talk about this girl and say she was better than Gaga" Cute attempt
wahkeenasitka 1,995
i don't understand why it has to be competitive. why does it have to be - this performance is better than that performance....? it's all so subjective, it's meaningless. You're on GGD ffs. Why do stupid media sites like NME and Telegraph and some Lorde fans have to generate dispute and comparison between the tributes presented by two very different artists? We'lre talking about the death of a star right now, we're here to celebrate his career and significance, Lorde and Gaga come from the same place, their intentions were the same, and that was to celebrate Bowie. And NME is stupid enough to mention 'Lorde knows one outfit is enough', people pay tributes in different ways and if the world was monotone like NME thinks, it would be so boring. Like Kayla said, Gaga was there to celebrate, she even dressed like Bowie so if people still think that's not about Bowie but herself they can get lost, while Lorde was there to mourn. There are strengths to each performance and I think we should be embracing them not disputing about 'YOU DID WORSE and you did better'. Reported your OP btw. I personally like Lorde's more because it's strip down and have David's band. I Only Stan For Risk Takers

I'm a hardcore Bowie fan myself and I know Gaga's performance was nothing like Bowie yet I still think he wouldn't have been as boring to not like it. It was hilarious. ****ing with people's taste of who you are and what you stand for was his essence. and about Lorde... Life On Mars is the anti-Bowie song. it's melodrama. a parody. (since you liked that word). if you're doing one song, Life On Mars is like the worst choice. Bowie spent most of his life trying to sound optimistic about Life On Earth, since he thought he had suffered enough as a teenager who always felt left out. it's the whole alien(ation) theme. he fell to earth from his tragic youth. he also resented his thin white duke persona (the alter ego Lorde chose to adopt) and felt shame for the person he was during that time, so yeah... if anyone ****ed up, it was Lorde. it's all a case of people being boring. doesn't matter if you're a Bowie fan or not. I know you mentioned on the second or third page that you loved Gaga's performance. But what's the point of saying 'I loved Gaga's performance!!" and then create a thread "Lorde's performance was better than Gaga's as proved by NME! I told you hoes!"?
