Her lawyer said that too, but Sony won't promote her music. 6 more albums with other producer, without promo - career suicide.

It sad that even if her album does really well without promo they will still profit from it

I wish she could slay off of the commotion her case had :noparty: I mean, if she released an album this year it would do good but her 6th album after the mess... :green:

I think she can't create in that toxic environment being still tied to Sony after all of this.

This is just clever wording. He says she's free to "record". Nowhere does that say that Sony or Kemosabe will properly promote or even actually release any music made at all. As her label they can refuse certain material to be put out and can have her marketed however they like.

Plus the label funds the creation of an album, which includes paying producers to work for the artist. They could just refuse that. Hopefully Antonoff is willing to produce Kesha for free.

Honestly, I just think Luke and his lawyers are trying to make a further mockery out of Kesha's case to make it seem futile and small. I highly doubt she would go broke by taking him to court if it was pointless and she could just easily work with somebody else. It's obviously not that simple.

I would love to see her actual contract with Lukes label, and I thought we would see some of it during the case.

So far we only have two statements from Luke and Kesha,

Luke says she can work with other producers (like we've seen on some of her records which don't credit Luke at all),
but Kesha says she can't.

This so confusing tbh

Kesha litterally recorded an album with Flaming Lips but it got blocked by Sony/Luke

I agree. Basically she can work with others but it likely wouldn't be released

Because the label has the authority to approve everything. She can't just quickly rush out 6 albums of trash and put them out effortlessly. They wouldn't let her. They would only release something commercially viable and lucrative for them, because that's how record companies work.

She might be able to work without him there, but he's still her boss. She's still signed to his imprint with Sony... Her abuser will still make money off everything she releases.

That was already the case wasn't it? Sony was like "you're free to record music if you want", but what's the point when promoting it isn't allowed :/ That'd land her and everyone involved in some serious debt, it's a lose-lose unless the contract's voided

Just check all the news about her case in last few days, her lawyer's statement is somewhere in there.

The lawyer gives no evidence for that statement though. I have no idea why Sony would have a popular artist under their label release new music and not promote it.
