It's a massive oversimplification but I'm sure I read of polls that gave indications to that extent I'm voting stay; but I'm not fussed too much, dual citizenship by birth As I said in my original post I don't see Scotland getting independence anytime this decade or the start of the 2020s so in my opinion it is best to think of Scotland right now and it makes more sense to stay in the EU for the timebeing. If I knew for sure we would be able to survive without the EU in the UK I would vote leave mainly for another referendum. Even before the referendum was announced that Britain is stronger staying in the EU. Obama could of said his opinion in a different way however I agree with him. I would actually think it would be democratically misleading to not know the benefits and consequences of both sides. It's not a threat, it's a factual statement: it's not a punishment ('if you do that, we'll invade you!'). It's a statement derived from a general rule, which is that a bigger bloc or bigger country (talking in terms of total GDP, military spending and population) has more power and gets more attention from other countries. I do, as a European, see benefits to a 'no': the UK is a very conservative country in the European Parliament, and the UK leaving the EU would without doubt lead to a military union, which I am in favour of. It would also allow for a more social and democratic EU. Finally it would crush Euroscepticism because of the decline of the UK economy which will take place, which will hopefully make the nationalists in mainland EU shut up about leaving the EU/Eurozone. What saddens me is that Cameron used the opportunity not to improve the EU from ideals which everyone shares, but instead used the opportunity he had to blackmail the EU by focusing on conservative and symbolic measures. Im trying to learn all the facts about both sides but the more I research the more I remain on the fence. Realistically the way things are going it's clear we will stay however that's largely due to a lack of available information to leave. That's surprising considering the government are fighting to stay therefore produce more material in favour of staying. The information to leave doesn't seem as distributed or accessible.
