I was just waiting for someone to call me out. It's not like Animal lives matter as well. OMG. How ironic. Animal = Ke$ha :: Monster = Gaga? Hahahahah get that too? You get what I mean, don't SJW me. I have no intent to degrade animals nor powerful females or whatever politically correct word fits your dictionary. How is that SJWing you? People really need to stop throwing around "SJW!" whenever someone disagrees on a social issue. (Similarly, people also need to stop throwing around the word "racist!", but that's not related to this thread) Your analogy basically translates to: "Turning a blind eye to what happens behind the scenes in order to enjoy the music is like turning a blind eye to what happens in slaughterhouses to enjoy the burger!", which is totally right. And some people are comfortable treating artists like meat, other people are not. You showed yourself to be the type that treats artists like meat, choosing to enjoy the outcome and turn a blind eye to the downsides of the processing. Not everyone is like that. Some people choose to help people with integrity AND talent get to the top, not just people who can churn out Top 40 hits with no real purpose other than to be a money-grabbing bop. Caring about living things isn't being "politically correct," it's being a decent human being with compassion. No need to turn this into a "SJW" issue. What's bad is even though I still love those songs, whenever I come across them I'll have this yeucky feeling in my stomach and they won't be enjoyable. The crappy thing is that my choosing not to stream those songs won't even affect Dr. Luke. What's a few streams from a single person gonna do compared to the GP? But I personally would feel gross listening to them.

Tbh, the way the term "SJW" has been established I'm starting to think that being a good person or even not being a raging asshole is being a SJW. Dominic 11,922
So unless we stop streaming these songs we are supporting a rapist? What is this logic. We should all never ever stream a Kesha song again because that would be supporting a rapist. It's not like she needs the support of streams or radio plays to help her career. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

You basically are. What's hard to understand? Streaming gives to songwriter & producer money. Dr. Luke is the producer and songwriter of those songs and also a 100% certified creep. You stream the songs on Spotify, Tidal, Vevo or whatever, you give him and money and more resources to keep up his charade and potentially harm other women as well as keep damaging Kesha's career. Not a big leap.

IF you are accused of being a rapist, and let's just say you're not, how would you feel about everyone in the whole damn world blacklisting you? I'm not saying Kesha is lying or what not, but let's not jump to conclusions here. This is true- he is innocent until proven guilty. It is possible that Kesha made up the accusation to make it easier to get out of the contract, because she and her fans have been pushing to get her out of it for years. I personally don't believe this is the case. At the end of the day, when she was saying "I want out, I want to make music with other people, I want to release songs that represent me," he pointed to her contract and said "No." What kind of goodhearted person does that? What kind of person looks at an artist who is unhappy, struggling, and not creating and instead of saying "Fine, I'll let you go," decides to say "No, you need to finish your contract with me"? One look at the OP shows he has a list of other artists he can make money from, yet he has been keeping Kesha under his thumb for years, despite the fact she's not even making music with/for him- that seems like a power struggle, and he's abusing his power. Dr. Luke does NOT seem like a good person who cares about others or artistic integrity.

To be fair, I'm not defending this attitude but a lot of people in the business are like this. I mean take a look at RedOne and Porcelain Black... She was fighting to get out of her contract for ages as RedOne wasn't putting in enough time / effort into to her campaign, then when she finally managed to get out of it... he leaked all of their tracks

Benji 20,113
I feel a little awkward boycotting his work as I do enjoy some of it, plus I've already paid for most of these songs so refusing to listen to him only effects me as I don't stream. I really do hope artists stop working with him from now on though. I'm happy boycotting future releases.
