Her career is basically on pause for the next 6 records (iirc) she records. Assuming that they release a record every two years, she'd still have to record music under terrible conditions for about 12 years.

That's awful. I feel so bad for her. Maybe she could release music independently? Is that possible?

Do you know what happened to Jojo? Kesha will be the new Jojo where she will have albums but will be shelved cause of what happened now. No promo, no tours = no money for Kesha and Sony does not care a single bit cause they make money with or without her.

It's a logical thought you're having but a naive one at that, to think a billion dollar cooperation are gonna forget about all of this (being dragged into court by a pop starlet) and then expected to pump hundred thousands of dollars into Kesha as an artist coming years. If she had enough money she could buy herself out of the contract but sadly that's not the case for her as an alternative.

She shouldn't be expected to have to stay with Sony after the way they've treated her, Dr Luke or not.

Is there no way to void the contract? I feel like at this point this situation has to be doing damage to both Sony's and Dr. Luke's image, and would probably look better if they just ended it.

At this stage she will have to risk releasing through someone else and paying the fine for breaking contract.

That's the other issue, it's a huge corporation where Kesha essentially got her start so it's a no-win situation for her. She's most likely obligated to release a certain number of albums under her contract and if they sue her, they'll win.

I'm so glad Gaga has spoken up about this too. I feel so terrible for Kesha, what a truly horrid situation. Hopefully she will find strength with all the messages of support from people today; particularly from the famous people who have spoken up because their words can carry a lot of weight, I'm sure it must be meaningful to have your peers stand up with you.

I hope that all the negative attention towards Sony will finally influence them to release her from her contract. Even though it should never have had to get to this point in the first place, because now they would only be doing it to protect their brand and not out of support for Kesha, but at least it would be over for her. Who knows if that will happen though.
