That's not what record labels consider. The album has continued to sell very well. The singles are selling the album, so it is profitable to continue to release singles. 1989 is doing way better than Teenage Dream, so you are correct...it's not like that album.

Plus, 1989 just won AOTY. Of course they are going to capitalize on that a bit! They would be crazy not to!

Yes, the album continues to sell well, not the singles. When singles stop selling, it's best to end things. How is 1989 doing better than Teenage Dream s regards singles? Even before its re-release, it had 5 BB #1's and 1 top ten. 1989 has 3 #1's, 2 top tens and 1 top 20. Katy wins based on singles. TD could have as many singles as it did (and even she stopped after 6 on the first edition) because every single one was a hit. Only 3 of Taylor's songs really took off, especially internationally. TD has more worldwide impact with more people recognising her songs overall. All but one of those 8 singles went to top 10 in the UK (with 2 going to #1) whereas Taylor's only had 3 top tens here with 1989 (Wildest Dreams just scraped the top 40 and Out Of The Woods couldn't even get into the top 100). In the UK, no matter how well your album's sold, it's pretty easy to continue to get top 40's even at this stage, so it's telling. The problem is, Taylor isn't on Spotify and that is a major factor in how songs chart here and not having it was the only reason that SIO and Blank Space failed to reach #1. And yet her fans think she's a good businesswoman for refusing to stream on Spotify? Even with the Grammy win, making any more singles from here on out is pointless after OOTW flopped. Once you've had one flop after a certain stage, the label understandably pulls the plug. That's what happened to Gaga after MTN got #29 (pretty decent for a fifth single before the days of streaming). Big Machine are simply Taylor's b***h and let her be completely self indulgent, even when it's clear the album's had its day. But on the bright side, I think it's a confirmation that she won't have an album out this year, as usual, seeing as she always takes a 9 month break between her last single from her last album and her new lead single. Gaga will have a chance.

She just won AOTY at the Grammys, it's only natural that they want to keep the album going for a while longer...I don't get why everyone is surprised/upset, she's not "milking" it, she's just acting according to basic logic :laughga:

Good luck for her...I'll give her album a try very soon, hope I like it :)

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

Nope. Not how it works. Record labels look at the position of the album on the BB chart. If the album is continuing to do well, they are very much open to releasing more singles to keep it selling.

I know it just gripes your soul, but too bad. They see it as profitable and they see the ones with the money.

Yes, Katy is a singles seller. Taylor won in every other way...Album sales, critical acclaim, Tour numbers and gross, Awards...including the BIG:applause: one at the Grammys, AOTY. It's smart for the label and her management to keep it going, since this era has been so dominate and won the AOTY!

Yes, but when there have already been 6 singles? Milking it can do an album more harm than good. Not to mention, bring down the overall success story of the album. Wouldn't it be better to release 5 singles and have them all be massive hits as opposed to releasing 8 singles and for 3 of them to flop? That's why most album campaigns end after single 5 - there's nowhere else to go after that. Katy stopped her run of #1's after single 5. She'd be better off just going away now and make people miss her so she can do well by August next year.

The problem is, it makes her look desperate for more chances at a hit. If you keep releasing single after single after single despite your run of hits ending some time ago, it gets embarrassing (it was for the best really that the AP era ended when it did in retrospect because GUY's chart position was a new low). And people get bored of your overexposure and want the era to end. You become like that drunk person at the end of a party who keeps acting wild despite everyone wanting chilled-out conversation in peace and keep telling you to go to bed because you're wasted. You want people to think an era ended too soon as opposed to an era that didn't know when to stop. Ending the era with Grammy wins was the perfect finale, allowing 1989 to ride off into the sunset. Instead, there's no faith that more sales will be pulled in on the strength of those Grammy wins alone.

I am SO DONE with Taylor. I feel like all her songs are about the same topic

I like Bad Blood solo version though.

Eh, that's her label's decision. Since it has done so well and continuing to sell well, it is factors they are considering.

Since her label has done a bang up job for a decade now, they certainly seem to know what they are doing and have Taylor's best interest at heart.

I'm sure it will all turn out fine.

Does anyone else think that New Romantics sounds totally like a Ladyhawke song? Even the vocals are totally Ladyhawke.

So it took Out Of The Woods to have a music video for it to enter top 70 on iTunes. New Romantics is #79 and it wasn't in top 200 until she tweeted it as the official next single.

Glad her label realized their big ass mistake

Well good for her, I love Taylor. I love that song and I love the album... I just thought it is too many singles, and some hasn't done as good. Of course you had to take the "Teenage dream" joke so seriously since you won't ever stop being so negatively obssessed over Katy... Bye guuuuuurl!

You made the innacurate comment, not me. My comment was based on facts, yours was inaccurate.

My comment was a jokingly reference. Why do you have to be so stuck-up? I wans't being serious

That "I'm right, you're wrong" attitude you always have will take you nowhere peaceful in life!

You made a comment about two albums and the release of a single and I replied. Don't be surprised when people reply to comments made, especially when they are innacurate. It is a forum...it happens.

Innacurate? That word is so subjective talking about the singles released off of these 2 albums. But if telling going around telling people they're innacurate and you have the right facts makes you feel better, good. I was innacurate, be happy.

The sentence could be detected as a lightened up joke from miles away, too bad not so many people have lightened up moods.
