I feel that the general amount of ingratitude that Gaga has been receiving these last couple of hours is sickening to say the least. Reading various websites and this site I have come to the conclusion that she should stop covering other artists' songs for a really really long time. A lot of people who didn't like her performance has been calling it disrespectful and horrible. This is where I take offence. Everyone's acting as if she tried to shamelessly make it all about herself or insulted the man's legacy or even committed a crime against the arts and humanity... I can't even begin to imagine how devastated I would be if I were to perform a tribute to one of the biggest influences on my career and of my formative years only to be shat upon and ridiculed. This brings back memories of the notorious Express Yourself/Born This Way reductive debacle. The point of a tribute is to honour the artist not top or equal them. Bowie is Bowie. Gaga is Gaga. That's what people can't seem to separate. I would be delusional not to recognise that it may have been disappointing in certain respects (being overhyped by Intel or that she could have covered less songs with less theatrics) but it would be wrong to call it a mess or a flop. Gaga should just stick to being Gaga. She neither has anything to prove nor does she owe **** to anyone. She proved for the umpteenth time that undoubtably she doesn't lack anything in the talent or the charisma department. All these salty people across the web need to get off their high-horse with their unreasonably high expectations. This is the trouble of performing a tribute to a legend. Deviate even a parsec from the norm and you'll be dragged to the pits of hell and back. I'm sure in 20 years time if someone were to honour Gaga and they messed up big time you'd be yelling at them to 'delete it fat' faster than the final note could escape their mouth. I have to admire her courage though for attempting to honour a complex and difficult to master discography in under 10 minutes mind you. Not that it makes that much of a difference but she never received any acknowledgment from him when he was alive. That alone, for me is ballsy in its own right. To sum up, if I were her I would stop covering other artists songs and stick to being Gaga. She's already solidified. This is the same woman who burst onto the music scene, took pop culture and made it her bitch. Only if the artists acknowledges her existence and doesn't snub or shade her should she even contemplate covering a song. Obviously, Gaga can do whatever she pleases but this is just my two cents. If I ever become famous and where to pay tribute to Gaga at least I feel confident in the belief that she would be encouraging and graceful as usual. Case in point Sam Smith. TL;DR Salty people be pressed. Some Little Monsters are ungrateful shits. Gaga is on her way to becoming a legend in her own right. People should get a blanket because it's chilly living in Gaga's shade. So Little Mobsters, what do you think? Should she lay off tributes for a while/unless the artist she's covering isn't being rude? You're not making it any easier for people who have differing opinions and if we all were to leave if we disagreed with something Gaga did then Gaga would have no fans whatsoever. Stop trying to harbour some kind of divide between people who do and people who don't agree with some decisions Gaga and her team make. You're only adding fuel to the fire.
