BEST: Lady Gaga Brings the House Down for Bowie
Lady Gaga spent the days before her Grammy tribute to David Bowie getting an Aladdin Sane tattoo, then showed up on the red carpet dressed as Ziggy Stardust. So, yeah, there was never any doubt she meant business. And like most things she and her Haus do, the attention to detail in her performance was evident — but that's a requirement when attempting to honor a chameleon like Bowie. So while her outfits were dazzling, and her nods to Bowie's performances (updates of "Rebel Rebel," "Fame" and "Heroes") showed a true obsessive, what made Gaga's performance perfect was the way she captured the spirit of the man's work throughout his career. Bowie's looks changed, but the guiding principle behind his work didn't: He delighted in remaining true to himself. And you got the same sense from Gaga, who wasn't just celebrating the man's music, but relishing the opportunity to perform it in front of this buttoned-up, all-business crowd. It was odd, amorphous, over-the-top and everything you could've hoped for. Bowie would've loved this.

I loved Gwen's new video, tho. :crossed:

Congrats to Gaga and Taylor, tho! Poor Adele.

I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.

GAga slayed and I think us little monsters have become too accustomed to EVERYONE praising her as seen in the aftermath of the Sound of Music tribute, Superbowl performance, various tributes, etc. This was Gaga's biggest return to her more theatrical and experimental side and honestly, it's gotten IMMENSE media appreciation from all outlets I've seen so far not to mention praise from a considerable number of the GP. While there are naysayers, this is to be expected for a performance as gutsy as this one. Honestly, weird as it sounds, we're used to everyone praising Gaga to the high heavens after she sings something more stripped down, but when she channels David Bowie and his theatrical side (which was divisive in the 70s), of course it's going to get some criticism and scrutiny and not receive unanimous praise. This is the best and even better than what we could hope for in terms of gaga's career trajectory. I think this is the most praised "Gaga" performance I've ever seen from her career. A simple scroll through the headlines containing her performance will prove that.

Yes she did! I love the performance and my mother saw it too, called her the artist of the generation.

Im also dead at the Madonna fans in the comments that created profiles to like their own comments :rip:

I appreciate the performance more every time I watch it. It's just a lot to digest. She killed it!!!

This.

Each watch, it just gets better and better. I think this'll be an iconic performance from Gaga when we look back.
