Lady GaGa was never irrelevant.

I've seen some monsters on here and especially on twitter express that the success she's garnered in the past year after ARTPOP "ruined her career" to be surprising. I find that sentiment real troublesome because some of y'all must not remember what 2012-14 era was like. Gaga's music might have underperformed but she's always been the media's favorite pop girl.

BTWB being calncelled was EVERYWHERE. Nobody in America could escape the news. Applause vs. Roar was a pop culture EVENT. Applause lost that battle but she was still considered a straight up rival to the most successful pop girl of the decade. It was such an event that last year Gaga and Katy and another woman taking a picture together literally made national news. DWUW leak was massive. TMZ was super proud of it and very desperate to keep it a TMZ exclusive. You don't fight for exclusivity over an irrelevant story. Gaga snagged headlines again with C2C coming completely out of left field. Then the SXSW performance repulsed almost everyone alive.

Sistren I am leaving you with the definition of irrelevant, think about it and ask yourself if somebody irrelevant to pop culture would garner that much attention. She hasn't staged a comeback, she's just shifted the massive amount of media attention that never left her to better things.

Gurl.

Let me break it down for you.

Irrelevant has taken up a new meaning with stans- Irrelevant = flop, not successful etc.

And clearly as most stans are under the age of 18 and still in high school and have a lot of maturing to do they don't care for words actual meanings.

To be fair, I hardly heard her mentioned in the U.K. post Do What U Want until she starred in AHS.

Couple of people mentioned Cheek To Cheek but apart from that, she certainly seemed pretty irrelevant.

GaGa has been irrelevant because "GaGa" doesnt exist

Actually GaGa did exist until 2009/10

That's to be expected, AHS is an AMERICAN horror story, and Cheek to Cheek was from the Great AMERICAN song book. It's not exactly a global dominance haha

I said people started talking about her again with AHS... AHS is appreciated outside of america you know? :air: I also said some people picked up on Cheek To Cheek, people do know what jazz is, regardless if they're songs from the AMERICAN song book :rip:

AHS has a huge audience in the UK (nearly all teens) but we have to pirate it online or wait a year for DVD release. All my friends have watched it. The U.K. GP is known for liking weird ****.

Of course she wasn't. Just because the album underperformed for her standards ( which is really high) doesn't mean irrelevance. She's established. She had the highest peak of any pop star since Britney, thus cementing her place in pop culture.
