how do you feel about Beyonce's recent antics?

Beyonce is a grown woman. She has been in this industry since she was a child. She is now a wife, mother, and she has broken tons of records and has sold even more. She's earned the right to do what she wants, say what she wants, and ultimately make the music she wants.

This IS Beyonce. That southern girl from New Orleans who loves gumbo and black culture. This isn't IASF Bey, this is the Beyonce who does what she wants. She's no longer concerned with pleasing others or bowing down to top 40.

It's science, bitch

Lol I never said I didn't like it, I was just answering the question that you asked. If you only want posts that agree with your point of view then... don't make the thread? :S

not agreeing with me =/= telling me not to listen to it yikes

Well this new song has a baeautiful video, but song itself is crap imo, i won't be listening to it. Can she do another "4"?

It's nothing special. Also the video is trying to come off as deep or meaningful while the song really isn't...

except for the fact that this song was clearly a pathetic attempt to get a viral hit since she's been lacking in those since like, what, 5 years now?

Ok, let's start with what's hard to say (and I know I'm getting so much **** for it): I feel people realized that if they make their identities the facade of their work they become somewhat imune to criticism and I see a bit of that here...

The song itself has so so lyrics and a strong beat...it's the kind of modern/trap/alternative things the critics have been responding positively to lately - it's becoming a trend, but Beyoncé was exploring a similar sonority with "Beyoncé" back in 2013, so she's not necessarily following any trend, but continuing down on a path she helped to establish...

I like the song, but I like the video much more.

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I have this feeling she has been listening to some alternative artists and she is trying to mimic their sound, and yet sound pop/radio friendly (which in my opinion she is failing miserably). About the lyrics, I've never really liked her songs lyrically, they are either silly, meant to make you cry or over-sexual.

Lol I didn't tell you to do anything. But your entire OP was presented like a matter of fact "where is the quality" "idiot lyrics" "isn't anything special" etc, when that's subjective and a lot of people clearly do like this music from her. Hence my post. I just thought it was like common sense to not bother with it if you aren't a fan, but give her those streaming points if you want I guess lol.

I agree with this. I think the song is a fun bop but sonically it's nothing that wasn't really covered on ST. I hope the rest of her new album progresses a little, it would be quite boring to have this album as the little sister of the last one.

it's still a pathetic attempt but i meant a big radio hit though i now retract that statement because a vulgar song like this wouldn't suit the radio

in any case, this song isn't quality at all and idk why her being a mother or respected means she should put out garbage like this
