But that doesn't translate to liking her music on an album not stripped down. Gaga, packaged as she is, a pop star writing dance music for most of each album, and isn't going to bring on many rock fans or ambient electronica fans from his generation . Like ARTPOP would be anything they are interested in. Come on. It's not their thing. Bowie was a rockstar with a live band, not a popstar with a backing track for a good portion of her shows. They go to straight live music concerts and muscians.. Just because Gaga is extremely talented far above the current crop of popgirls, which she is, doesn't make her music interesting to most older fans who are into rock and electronica bands, etc. Why should it? Most of what you read on here are young Gaga fans stanning for pop music only from the current popgirl crop. A tiny percentage venture out past that. If her album is more eclectic and she branches out musically, that could change. She needs to evolve out of dance pop if you want such crossover. I wish she would do an acoustic album someday, actually. I never said that Bowie fans would ever go for ARTPOP or any other dance pop / Edm from Gaga. That's ridiculous. My point is: If these people looked into her as an artist, instead of reflexively seeing her as a 21st century manufactured pop star, they would see her talent and therefore respect her. They do not need to enjoy her music to respect her talent. Someone on the forum called her a "talentless piece of trash." That statement isn't subjective opinion, it's just ignorance. I agree that she should do an acoustic album someday. 🤖⚡️
Killa 17,480
This wasn't that bad.. It could be all negative, but there's some 5 people rooting for her. If you remember well, back in the day she only had one fan on facebook. When will you see the positive side of life?

Miker 5,683
All tributes are special. It is a way to decorate the meaning and impact that the person had on their lives. The most heartfelt tributes will be from those that he knew the longest and had the closest relationship with him throughout his career. Gaga is a wonderful singer and she will honor him in a sincere way. Mars..........or bust!
Bonkers 29,573
They should be happy it's Gaga because Gaga brings David Bowie to a younger audience, expanding his legacy. And I think they won't have anything bad to say after they see it. Bad Bromance 5,809
We shouldn't worry, guys. If you think about it, it's only natural that they feel a bit uncomfortable that an artist from this generation is going to honor their fav. They were probably expecting someone like Trent Reznor, whom Bowie really liked, to perform the tribute. I'm 100% confident Gaga is going to nail the performance and they're all going to acknowledge our Queen's immense talent. Not all of them will admit they were wrong about Gaga but as long as some of his fans and the majority of the general public does, that's all that will matter at the end of the day. I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.
HANZ 4,380
not surprised, not even David Bowie himself seemed to like Gaga My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48
REALITY 76,748
I mean, can you really blame them? They see Bowie as someone of a god, and when a relatively new, and "talent-less" pop star comes along, they just deny it. They probably just don't know Gaga's true potential, and that's okay. I'm sure she'll do Bowie and his music justice. I mean, think about how you'd feel when your music idol was getting a tribute by one of the newer, "talent-less" pop stars. Gaga will surely change their minds after seeing her performance. 𝔊𝔬𝔬𝔡𝔟𝔶𝔢, ℑ'𝔩𝔩 𝔰𝔢𝔢 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔦𝔫 𝔪𝔶 𝔡𝔯𝔢𝔞𝔪𝔰

It's a pointless argument trying to convince them differently. I wouldn't advise you to go look at comments about U2, a band who have written iconic albums and songs, sold 170 million albums, won tons of Grammys. If you read everything online that was said about them you would think they were the worst band in history. Filled up stadiums, sell-out tours, tell it differently. Arcade Fire is a fantastic band, with great songwriting and musicians. I've seen comments ripping them apart. Every act gets hateful comments about their talent. I see them on here about other artists. If back in the day it was announced young non-mainstream artist Bowie was going to be the only one to do a tribute for some much older beloved icon he didn't know, the reaction would have been horrendous, much worse than Gaga, because he truly wasn't mainstream. Who cares? It's to be expected. Then he would have gone out and knocked it out of the park. Not everybody is against Gaga doing it.

I try to think, how would we all feel if Gaga (god forbid) passed away and a relatively new girl who started her career rocking meat was chosen to pay homage to her? I'd be torn on it, I guess. Everyone needs to remember that we've seen more of Gaga's highs than these guys, I'm sure she'll do a great job but she's got a pretty hard task in trying to please everyone. oh ew oh **** oh no. the thought of that just enraged me aswell... damn, thanks for putting us in their shoes

Lord Temptation 11,209
People who hate Gaga and cite some other (i.e. 20th century) legend are just reverse ageists. They hate anyone young and talented. They just want to be able to say how rubbish our generation are so when someone like Gaga comes along and shatters their illusion they get really insecure and sh1tty.
