Did Gaga know that David Bowie was going to die? (Grammy performance)

"Her performance at the Grammys will not be the opening number for the show, but it will probably last six or seven minutes, Mr. Ehrlich said, and cover “at least three or four” songs."

This doesn't sound like they changed her Grammy performance at the last moment.

They said there would be NO NEW SONGS for the Intel Grammy performance PRIOR to the David Bowie's death and tribute announcement. So what else could've Gaga been singing? Gaga has been preparing for the Grammys since the very end of 2015, and INTEL has been behind the scenes creating the technology for the performance for many weeks now. Now we find out that it will be 3-4 Bowie songs Gaga will be singing. It seems like a pretty big change for something changed in the last moment. Is it possible that David Bowie died earlier than Jan 10 and Gaga was one of the first people to know to prepare for a groundbreaking tribute to him? I will be very interested to see the type of technology involved during the performance.

holy scheisse

Could've been anything considering her career has been singing covers since ARTPOP ended

David knew he was gonna die soon and it probably wasn't a secret to a lot of people but I don't think they are lying about changing the performance last minute. The cancelled performance must had been just covers of known songs like the C2C era has been.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I feel pretty sure Gaga heard through Bowie's people (maybe even Iman herself, taking into consideration she wore the identical Brandon Maxwell dress just a few weeks ago) he didn't have long to live and probably was preparing in the back of her mind a fitting tribute performance at Grammys; she's also been good to Ken Ehrlich for many years through many CBS/Grammys appearances he produced so she was a shoe in for this coveted tribute performance

There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled.

No sis, it's just that their plans did change

Bowie tribute is better than everything they could have planned and they know it

I highly doubt it. It's really hard to predict the exact date of someone's death, unless you're being euthanized. I don't think she would have risked performing a tribute with the uncertainty of whether he would be dead by then or still alive. It would have been very eery watching her perform a tribute to David Bowie and then hear about his death a week later on the news. No one wants that kind of publicity and I doubt she would have agreed to it.

And as someone already mentioned in a different thread, Intel said this about the performance:

“We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year’s show, but when David passed — almost in a single moment — we knew we had to change direction,”

EDIT: Wait, just read the part where you say he might have died earlier... Why would anyone keep it a secret and then reveal it some time later? What would be the purpose behind that?

But I'm only a man and I do what I can.

They have to say that. They don't want people going around knowing key information of possible release dates of Gaga's work. What Gaga does next musically is very important and everything will be done to keep ideas and dates top secret.

Also, very few people even knew Bowie was struggling with cancer, unless he or his wife Iman informed Gaga, there is no way she could have known this. But the timing of that Hollywood Reporter interview Gaga did where she spoke about Bowie being done when it was seems quite strange.

The family members might've wanted to mourn in private, before releasing the info to the public.

But why would they lie? They'd just explain to everyone that he died a week ago and they decided to keep it a secret.
