GlamGorgeousGG 220
I can't even wrap my mind around how phenomenal this is and how honored Gaga must feel. Wish it could've been a duet, but hearing her sing his songs is a dream come true.

I don't think anyone (in the public) knows for sure but it was apparently supposed to be some sort of medley of hits but she changed the whole thing at the very last minute when she heard that he had committed suicide just a few days before the show. There are many people that could have been better for a David Bowie's tribute. But in pop world, this is the best answer. And I'm sure she'll pull a moment that will be forever embedded in our memories, and enlisted in the annals of the greatest deeds (lol, better take a seat). Mother monster, no pressure Can you name one artist who would've been better? You said that there were many. No shade, just asking you to please elaborate. OMonster 14,675
I think this is an overused term, but this is truly iconic. This could be career defining. It's going to be a huge, huge moment that really consolidates GaGa as one of the musical greats. Seriously, this bitch is fast becoming (to us, she already is) a total icon of pop culture. I was talking to my friends today, and of course I'm biased, but I truly believe GaGa will be up there with the likes of MJ, Whitney, Bowie ect. She is leaps and leaps beyond her contemporaries. GaGa is in her own league, entirely. subtext / fantasy
REALITY 76,711
I can't wait for this! Imagine how Gaga must feeling knowing that she was the first person they went to to ask for a David Bowie tribute. He was literally her biggest inspiration, and without him, there would be no Gaga. It'd be like one of us performing a Gaga tribute when she passes. It's going to be amazing! 𝔊𝔬𝔬𝔡𝔟𝔶𝔢, ℑ'𝔩𝔩 𝔰𝔢𝔢 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔦𝔫 𝔪𝔶 𝔡𝔯𝔢𝔞𝔪𝔰
Killa 17,478
I'm a part a David Bowie fan group, in facebook. And i gotta say the reaction is much better than anticipated. 50 minutes ago, Lord Temptation said: Can you name one artist who would've been better? You said that there were many. It could be Iggy Pop, Annie Lennox, Paul Mccartney (nooo!!), Mick Jagger, Kate Bush, Debbie Harry (not her style though), Marianne Faithfull or Amanda Lear (lol). Tina Turner!! There's really many people I'd be here for a Kate Bush performance with some Iggy Pop and Mick Jagger. I'm not into Annie Lennox this days.

Lol thanks. But they said she'll perform alone. And i don't mind, i love Bowie since i remember but let's not forget who's stan card i have. I just hope some of his musicians, like Nile Rogers come aboard. And that could be very good for Gaga. She needs real musicians, legends that can do a bit more than those cronies with Tony Bennett. Having a great bassist or an incredible sax player can be as important as having a great producer. Though Tony Visconti worked with Daphne Guiness, so he can jump in for LG6... But get that acclaim I guess Bowie turned down most people for collaborations in that time period except a few favorites. Gaga was dance pop, and Bowie never was except in the '80s, and he hated that period of his music, felt after doing the one-off Let's Dance album that he caved and did two more trying to give people what they wanted, when he was never the type to give the fans what they wanted, but did what he wanted..He said that period left him creatively bankrupt. He always changes every album with different genre fusions, and moves forward, never looks back, and looks at acts that are different than he was. Gaga's dance music wouldn't be something he would want to collaborate on, but he turned down everybody practically those years.. But she is the perfect person to do this tribute. She has a powerful dramatic delivery, theatrical, which many of his songs had in his delivery, and he was her inspiration performancewise with his costumes and art intertwined. She will do an amazing job singing his songs.
freebit 6,240
I'm both excited and nervous. The Grammy's producer immediately going to Gaga for this and wanting her to do it solo. This is a huge honor for her. She must be rehearsing her ass off. No wonder we haven't seen much of her since the GGs.

It doesn't matter if he didn't adore her (which I don't believe). What matters is that he means so much to her, and the expression of that adoration will translate to viewers. Nile working on it is as good as Bowie giving his blessing. Who else was going to do it? Mick Jagger? Katy Perry? Lorde should have been the one assigned to tribute David. He has never spoken fondly of Gaga publicly but he's been quoted saying Lorde's music is "the music of tomorrow". If there isn't a relationship between him and Gaga (or worse, a negative one) it makes no sense for her to be the one to do it, that's not what he would have wanted. Lorde could pull off an androgynous performance easily, especially if she performed "Velvet Goldmine". Furthermore, if Gaga uses the tribute to David Bowie as a way to revert attention only to herself by pulling some antics, it wouldn't only be trashed and outrageous, but it would be disrespectful to David's legacy.
