I'd have preferred Rihanna to have a successful era. If I want Gaga to 'win',  I want her to win against the 'best'.  Not win by default.

remeber, we still in damage control zone. the prove will be the success of the single/album. its hasn been proved to have worked, the damage control that is. l wouldnt wana risk it:ohno:

As much as I want Gags to be successful, I always feel good for other artists´ success and if they put out good music, which I cannot say about Rihanna now... so I hope she´ll at least put on a good show :)

ANTi is still #1 in the US, UK and 35+ more countries and has a 70/100 score on metacritic. So I don't get why you are talking so negative about Rihanna.

Britney Jean was #1 in almost the same amount of countries on itunes as well but look how that album campaign turned out. Having a number one on itunes isn't something to gloat about since that's not hard to achieve when you're a big pop star. The real question is, will rihanna even debut number on the billboard hot 100 like her team hyped it up to be?

You are totally right of course. If Rihanna actually put out good music I'd be behind her and root for her. Hard. But it's not like she is my ultimate fave, I'm not going to stand by her when she releases trash like that after 3 years. She doesn't deserve that.

Hey, GaGa can succeed on her own accord - it doesn't have to be at the expense of other, hard-working artists. GaGa's here for the music, remember; she wants music as a collective craft to be celebrated within the industry, and not just hers.

I wouldn't like it if an artist specifically, and maliciously, tried to challenge GaGa (considering this is her comeback, of which the plans have been public knowledge for some time), but the music world in its entirety doesn't have to come to a sudden halt solely because '2016' (realistically, only a few months) is return of the queen.

Here for ANTi's success and LG5's success. Not here for Katy Perry (hopefully it's just a rumour) deliberately trying to derail GaGa, though. :koons:

It's because her manager is the same as Justin Bieber's. He is focusing on Justin and Tory Kelly right now, somewhere you can understand that he doesn't want to set Ari up against her own teammate (Justin), while it's not nice that she has to wait, she couldn't dominate right now anyway so it's sort of okay.

because Rih is no longer a threat to Gaga :)

She is so self-destructive she actually blew her only chance to get a hit with her lead single, as she is going on tour this month and she won't be able to promote her other singles, and I think 95% of us can agree that Work ain't iT. So when Gaga finally comes (March maybe? :ohno: ) there will be one less pop girl to worry about / for her to compete with. Katy isn't coming till Q4 according to her manager, Taylor is resting, Selena's era will be winding down by then, Adele is a non-factor by now. Bruno Mars and Beyonce need to shut it and the slate will be clean for the Queen to dominate :nick:

Are you serious? How manh hits has Ri had? How many more grammy's than our fav?? She doesn't even need a nother #1 for the next 4 albums. She is fine without you.

I knew she wasn't a threat months before Anti was released. I think her time as a hitmaker has finally come to an end and she's lost the public's trust. But oddly enough, have you ever noticed that whenever Rihanna and Gaga release albums in the same year (Rated R/TFM, BTW/Talk That Talk), Rihanna always "loses?" Gaga always gets the album with more sales, more hits and the more successful tour. I'm positive that LG5 will outperform Anti, so this pattern's set to run and run. Indeed, the only female who could pose risk this year is Beyonce but I doubt she can even equal the success of her last album and she's not a single seller. I doubt Meghan will come back with another AATB hit, I think she's a burning match. One hit wonders like Lorde took too long to come back and are done. Ariana is surprisingly having trouble, so it's unlikely she'll have another hit era like My Everything again. Iggy is on a big downfall. The majority of Adele's album sales are over and at those massive numbers, there's no way she's going to have any more Hello-sized hits from it now. Taylor's pretty much said she's not going release an album this year and wants to take more time out after such a big peak. On the male side, Ed's on a break, Bruno doesn't appear to be coming back anytime soon, Timberlake's on another haitus, Beiber's already had 3 massive singles and won't do any better from here on out, 1D are on a break, Zayn's currently having his big hit...

So, apart from Beyonce and any potential dark horse newbies throwing a spanner in the works, Gaga seems to have a clear route to somewhat of a comeback. There's no guarantees but she has a lot more luck than previous overcrowded years.

How many hits has she had? She's released so many singles per album that the public hasn't been able to keep up and apart from 1-2 defining hits per release, the rest have got forgotten by the public at large. She's won more Grammys than Gaga? Well, she's been in the business 3 years longer, so she's had more time to amass awards, plus, only 3/8 of her awards features her solo work - the other awards are for Best Rap/Sung Collab, meaning she had to share the award with someone else. Also, out of all those awards, Run This Town, The Monster and her Unapologetic album are the only projects for which she played a part in writing - all the other awards involved songs and videos made by people other than her. Besides, amount of Grammys don't mean all that much in the grand scheme of things. Artists more successful than Rihanna have less Grammys than her. and actually, yes, I do think she needs hits to stay relevant. As we saw with Rated R and to an extent, Unapologetic, a lack of hits leads to a lack of album sales and touring sales. If she keeps going the way of Anti, she'll be done. Remember that Rihanna has always been a commercial artist, so once she starts failing, there's no coming back. She's too ingrained into that mould to have success as an alternative act because her top 40 loving fanbase won't accept it and hipster fanbases aren't interested in supporting someone who was once so generic.
