Cameltoe Chariot 14,328
A very valid point. I do feel like I should pipe in and say, however, that despite these past two "pop" albums of hers being the most popular, she has had a VERY long career with extremely diverse albums that reach far and beyond what we've been hearing lately. "1000 Forms of Fear" was quite pop compared to her last endeavours but it still had her soul in the songs (or at least most of them did, especially Chandelier). "This Is Acting" feels like both a b-side album to her last one, as well as a collection of songs that were purely written to hit the charts with other pop singers recording them. To really understand Sia and to really appreciate her music, listen to her masterpiece "Breathe Me". Listen to "I'm In Here". Listen to "Soon We'll Be Found". Listen to anything she recorded before her last two albums and realize that she is a very special artist that seems to be paralyzed by her anxiety and is now hiding behind the songwriter curtain. Sometimes I'm almost certain she is purposely diminishing her talents/career/artistry because she's just too scared to see how people will react to her truthful songs. That's why she started covering her face and writing for other people in the first place. I'm just glad I got the chance to see her twice, front row, before her pop era began. OMonster 14,579
I adore Sia's music, but you're right - she can be repetitive at times. I think her songwriting is mind-blowingly beautiful, though. subtext / fantasy

I mean, "One Million Bullets" and "Alive" are very similar. i hear no similarities in these. and if not you can possibly say move your body sounds like bird set free and what not

It feels like she's become generic and makes her music for the radio. I am happy for her though, she really deserves her success this album is made of rejected songs people payed her to make. songs specially designed to hit high in the charts. you wont find that "authenticity" in this album cause it was meant to sound generic

She's not hiding her face for it to be a "cheap gimmick", she's hiding it because she has severe social anxiety. She said that she feels uncomfortable with fame and too many people recognizing her. She's doing it out of necessity. headspin, happiness, DE̤̣A̢̯͔̘T͏͙̗̟̫H̗̙͡ͅ

What I mean by this is that she usually has the same type of instrumentals, the same type of beats, and even very similar melodies and vocals in many of her songs (within many of her albums, not just this new one). Sometimes is just feels like once you heard one song, you already heard many of her songs. I haven't listened to this new album yet, but "A thousand forms of fear" is one of the best albums of the decade in my opinion. And each song is unique and brilliant! The album is consistent, there's definetely something that binds all the songs together but that doesn't mean they're all alike. About "This is acting" I can't tell much because I really haven't listened to it yet.

I can understand having your own aesthetic, but I feel like she plays it safe. Maybe she could incorporate more diverse genres in one album to change it up a bit. Here are a few to share with you:
