I disagree that German people are unfirendly or ugly. That's way too general to say. And so is to say that they are not fun. (you are the perfect example of exception ) But since my Erasmus in Portugal, I agree that Germans have some serious catching up to do for fun. Now, it has a great democracy, good politics, cares about refugees, has had cities that have been called 'most environmentally friendly city', good in and export (most cars come from germany), low unemployed rate etc. Germany, Sweden and Norway are the best countries right now.
