Madonna receives backlash for constant lateness

Madonna seems to be in the media for all the wrong reasons lately. I was scrolling through Facebook and noticed a page that i follow 'Idolator' had posted an article about Madonna and her lateness. The fans commenting on the article where less than amused by her constant lateness and it seems its spreading as well as the reviews on the tour itself in ticket sites.

What are your thoughts on artists being late all the time? regardless of who they are etc

 

Personally if i was going to see a concert and the performer didn't get on stage until a few hours after they where supposed to i would be extremely pissed off and probably leave.

I mean a few minutes late is ok but when you're extremely late and then proceed to finish your concert after they shut off the lights because you want to act like it's their fault then it's very unprofessional to me no matter who you are

I don't even care about the 'unprofessional' thing, its more the fact that people paid hard earned money to come see her, didn't receive any kind of apology (instead in some cases got a bitchy comment in some cases) if i was going to see her and this happened on my day i would never go to see her again, it would taint my perception of her as an 'artist'.

Yea but I'd also be very mad like when they shut off the lights and screen for a few of her songs, like there go the special effects that really make it a spectacle

OT: their constant reason is 'technical difficulties' which is complete crap. If it has technical difficulties on every night then there shouldn't be a tour.

Well, here's one of the issues: I was at the Atlanta show last night where she didn't come on until 11:00, and yes, I was a bit miffed by it. However, the tickets did not say "The show will begin at 8:00." Instead, they said, "Opening act will begin at 8:00" (or something to that effect). So, in one way, it doesn't guarantee that Madonna will start performing at any particular time, but on the other hand, it can be misleading as most concertgoers will assume that she will begin performing immediately after a short opening set. I also did my research beforehand and knew what to expect, but again, on the other hand, I don't expect every single concertgoer to look into it to the extent that I did. I mean, last year, I saw Bette Midler live in a similar arena-style setup, and she started the show right on time.

All in all, I do think she should make more of an effort to start the show at a reasonable time, especially since her shows are LONG. It was a great show, and I was beaming ear to ear by the end of it, but I do wish she had started earlier. Sometimes I think celebrities forget that regular people operate on different schedules and that we can't all be out at a concert at 1:00 AM on a weeknight. I love Madonna, but this is something she should work on.

Why don't people post threads with actual/relevant news article than this irrelevant site barely with 100k likes. 

And is it surprising that she's late? I'm pretty sure her tardies has been talked about before.

I don't care who the performer(s) is/are, I think it's not only unprofessional but also narcissistic and disrespectful to the people who paid money and fit the show into their schedules. And can you imagine if you had a hell of time driving to get to the place, thinking you could be late or something and the artist hasn't even taken the stage yet? I'd be actually kinda mad.

I'm talking more about hour + lateness. If it's like 30 minutes or less I probably won't be mad. Gaga was late at my artRAVE and I wasn't all that upset cuz it was maybe just 20 minutes.
