Gypsy Life 118,907
I don't get it. People will cry and whine about stupid stupid things like #OscarsSoWhite and #GrammysAreRacist but when a white person wants to bring light to a race issue, he gets attacked for it just because some people have the mentality that a white person can't speak about race (just like they're not allowed to do their hair a certain way, can't make rap music, etc.). It's like nothing satisfies them.

Sizzily 14,543
First "Mansplaining" then "Whitesplaining"? SJW's are so clever Don't they have anything better to do than read to far into sh*t on Twitter and make every white person look racist. 29 minutes ago, Gypsy Life said: I don't get it. adorno 484
Articles like that make racism seem ridiculous. This is not racism or "whiteplaining" at all ! Racism is a Real issue but really though, a stupid discussion like that just puts this serious issue in such an annoying and unfitting dimension. We need to stop accusing everyone and everything of being racist.

StrawberryBlond 14,899
It never fails to amaze me how over-sensitive people are nowadays, how keen they are to find faults, how they misinterpret the obvious, how they read a double meaning into every basic utterance. This story makes me want to punch a hole through a wall. Sam is completely innocent and being completely supportive of minorities. He's expressing empathy and knows something needs to be done and is encouraging others to do the same. Brilliant! We could do with more people like this! What's the internet saying? "He's trying to make it all about him!" "He didn't realise racism existed until now!" "Who does he think he is, some kind of race crusader? He's white, he has no right taking this role!" Here's the truth of the matter... People tend to think that bad things won't happen to them. When you read about racial attacks in the papers, it's easy to think "that's happening elsewhere, that'll never happen round my way or to the people I care about." When it does happen, you're shocked. Not because you didn't realise that it didn't happen before, but because its happened on your home turf, to a friend. It's got personal. So, you are angry and want people to know about it. Naturally, you think the police will do something about it because again, the police not taking notice is something that happens to other people. When you find out they won't do anything, you're even more angry and you want people to know. That's not making it about yourself, it's the definition of caring and empathy. Simply saying that something should be done about it and wanting to shed some light on it isn't being a race crusader, it's a natural reaction if you're a good person. Isn't this what we should all be doing to end racism? He wants to shed light on it because just like him, a lot of people think racism won't happen to people they care about. He's saying it can and we should do something about it. I don't get it. Only the oppressed party can try to take a stand now? How does that work? If we want equality to take place, EVERYONE has to take a stand. Exactly how are racists supposed to be won over by a bunch of minorities telling them to change? Maybe if there were some whites in there, they might reconsider? If a white person is anti racist, are they supposed to shut up and never report racism, never spread awareness? This makes no sense whatsoever. I don't know about you but I'm always willing to side with anyone who stands up against any discrimination and I would take no offence if someone stood up for me on my behalf if I was being discriminated against. You know what? I think certain people just like being oppressed. And they don't want things to change. Because if they do, they can't claim to be oppressed anymore. They can't complain about oppression being the reason why they can't get anywhere in life. They can't cry "discrimination!" every chance they get. They'll no longer be able to refuse responsibility for their own destiny. What are you going to blame all your troubles on if tomorrow we wake up and we're all equal? Some people are just masochists. They love nothing more than wallowing in misery for any and all reason and don't want to find a way out because sitting around complaining is so much easier than actually trying to make a change. Brad 2,491
This is the EXACT reason people think SJW's are horrible people. Sam was obviously very upset about the whole ordeal. Him saying how hurt he is IS NOT taking the pain away from the bullied party. When we surround ourselves with people who think similarly to us, we forget about the bad that happens around us, so when someone hurts one of your friends, you're sad for them, but also at the fact that you've forgotten that this stuff happens everywhere. People seriously need to chill. Everyone wants something to be mad about these days. ɪ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ʟᴏᴠᴇ / ɪ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ɪᴛ ꜰᴇᴇʟꜱ ʟɪᴋᴇ
Riot Poof 2,236
I don't see anything wrong with what Sam Smith said. So many things are problematic now that I can't keep track. Anyways, I hope his friend is OK now. I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.
