Gaga was really good

She has that "it" screen magnetism, and I think that really helped carry her in the beginning as she was making her way though stiff dialog and unfinished characterization. By the end she was amazing and on point. It was great to see her grow as as actress throughout the season. Reddit and other places give her so much ****, but she was honestly good. I think it's interesting that the most well received episodes centered on her, and the worst eps contained very little of her and just had an emptiness to them. I'm glad Vulture, Io9, Observer etc. kind of stanned her because I feel like it was so easy to hate on her since most people are automatically annoyed when a pop star tries to crossover into acting.

I agree, I thought that Gaga's performance was really good. The first few episodes were a bit rough, but she was overall fantastic, especially in mid-later episodes—"Flicker" was one of my personal favorites. 

It's sad, though, to see that even though she's in charge of the hotel, she only got two scenes in the finale. I mean, she's the overarching member of the hotel and the finale didn't do her justice—though, I thought Liz was incredible, she's now tied with The Countess as my favorite character from the entire season.

totally agree. i just saw a two day maraton that FX did at midnight and i watch the entire season again and i re-rancked it as second best season. its a lot more understandable and yoiu get to see the hints in previous episodes.
