Idk why u guys are reading so much into his "going back to the old stuff" comment... he means pre-ARTPOP. He means the stuff that was known & big.

Her complex songs full of layers upon layers are typically over produced and/or messy.  A less complex album doesn't mean an album full of ballads,  it sounds like he means it's more cohesive and organic.   Dance music can be cohesive and doesn't need to be complex for it to be a dance floor smash.

Considering all her confirmed producers are dance/pop producers I think we can keep our hopes up for Fame Monster-esque beats

"With Gaga - who I love, she's the godmother to our children - I'd like to be able to talk to her right now, but I can't get through to her," John told The Australian. "And there are times when you have to listen. When your persona begins to take over your music and becomes more important, you enter a dangerous place. Lorde had a big US hit with a song called 'Royals'. It's just her voice and a drum machine, and it's beautiful in its simplicity. It's the kind of direction Gaga should be going in." That was a statement hed made in 2013.

So he starts out with a supporting statement to show how much he cares and then moves onto tell the public about what he would say to her if he could reach her. weirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd. Then he says how great this song is. well listen to it. it is all about persona. there is imagery of suburbia and violence of boxing in the living room blood spattered on the wall. the lyrics are about dreaming about expensive cars and being non royal (you worthless piece of ****) but royal in the dream of having a cadylac. seems quite a bit like elton and bernies saturday night with the love of motor vehicles  and violence.

"When your persona begins to take over your music and becomes more important, you enter a dangerous place"

so he gives an example of acceptable persona and says it "dangerous" "you have to listen". sounds preety dodge to me like a warning not to be making music other than anti-music for the oil motor banking industry. i don't like it at all this is dude who has sounds totally taken over by persona like rocket man seems to have lyric about once again rocket (type of fuel propelled vehicle but obvious nasa connection) so it is man who is identify with rocket not family. just heard a bit of it but it is seems pretty crafted as in designed specifically to instill this dead persona into listeners as does this cadylac "we don't care" junk song. Tell you what the very basis of  law is the duty of care. There is nothing beautiful about that song can't believe how this has got views youtube should be like removing this they are complicit in distribution of this criminal **** promoting not careing wtf.

Actually early stuff was more complex to me than her late stuff. Like you could distinguish all the different sounds and enjoy them in a different way each time you listened to the song. In her late pop times she tended to add million layers of instrumentation, making the songs messy and heavy. I'm not sure if adding million random ingredients make something really 'complex' rather than a 'mess' lol.

what hes saying wasnt even untrue

he was essentially saying she let peoples perception of her get in the way of the album. and thats exactly what was wrong with ARTPOP.

hes just talking like an older family member doting on the youngest sibling. ultimately its her career and her obstacles to overcome.

Guys, he obviously meant she's going back to really old stuff.

Further back than The Fame, and Stefani Germanotta Band.

1950s. Jazz. Cheek To Cheek 2 is coming.

Prepare your old, curly, puffy, silver, weaves.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

i really hope she ditches dance music all together. it cant be brought into something newer, and id rather she focus on vastly improving her songwriting.... doing some carole king/elton esque music or more rock base will help with that.
