I'm pretty sure he said he loved ARTPOP before it came out .. I don't know why he feels indifferent now !!

Anyway's .. The ARTPOP shade wasn't necessary though ... It was, is & will always be a GREAT ALBUM ... Period !

He probably meant the original ARTPOP concept that revolved around royalty, Princess Die, and dead icons.  ARTPOP would make more sense if it was about that anyway considering Andy Warhol painted famous dead people and called it POPART, and the reverse of that would be harnessing dead famous people back to life through music (Hence ARTPOP and the "reverse Warholian" comment). I mean....isn't it obvious that was the original concept for ARTPOP? A) she had a song about Princess Diana, B) her original VMA performance was going to be copies of famous Gaga look a likes getting killed, and C) it's completely obvious with the Troy Carter thing, the low key Applause shade she gave at SXSW, and the fact she was still working on ARTPOP (the version her label wanted) literally after Applause came out, showing she was being rushed, and D) the fact that she used recycled beats for Mary Jane Holland, Donatella, Aura  and not original material ( again, RUSHED), and E) the fact that in 2012 she said she had songs called Red Flame, TEA, kick It, Burqa (possibly different than Aura), Ratchet on ARTPOP that never saw the light of day, and last minute in October 2013 she has Jewels N' Drugs, Venus, Donatella, Swine, a changed version of I Wanna Be With You, etc......ALL IM SAYIN IS ELTON PROBABLY HEARD A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT "ARTPOP"

ugh no ARTPOP may be my least favorite album but it was far from BAD. :saladga:

No shade, no tea. ARTPOP would be groundbreaking for an artist like Selena Gomez or Demi Lovato. But when I first heard it I wasn't blown away like I was on The Fame, TFM, or Born This Way.

I remember when I first heard Applause and I thought it was kind of weak and out of nowhere and clashed with the message of Born This Way.

Applause grew on me, but only because of its instrumental. It's a rather b side track to me that sounds like it just got a sick remix.

And.... to open the era with Applause was kind of a dumb move from her PR. They picked the least relatable song with vague lyrics that didn't really open the era at all. After Applause came out, I was even more confused about what ARTPOP was about tbh.:toofunny: The song has no relationship to the "reverse Warholian" concept, and it's a Thank you/Closer song.

Probably why she the era closed as soon as it opened. She opened with what should have been a fourth or fifth single.

ARTPOP should have opened with Gypsy. It's catchy, relatable, RedOne at his game, and it could have stimulated some sympathy points with Gaga (see why Adele succeeds). Follow it up with Venus (another catchy song), Do What U Want (catchy), and then end with Applause.

There was definitely some kind of change that went on with the ARTPOP production, plenty of signs are there. However, Elton John probably heard the final product as well. I think when he said Gaga would agree, she probably had bigger plans that were scrapped from the rushing from Troy Carter and Interscope. I think fans also forget how much her hip injury put a huge damper on her plans. While she was healing, she might have had to change what she planned that summer ARTPOP was being promoted.

Do your own research.

Yeah I still stand by the fact I think ARTPOP was meant for a late spring 2013 release a few months after the BTWball and that the concept was different. The album was geared to be a summer album imo too because it was meant to be dancy and electronic despite its original context. But the label used her hip injury for their benefit. (See the GUY video). They thought that they could convince her to wait after Miley dominated the summer with we can't stop and wrecking ball and Gaga could own the winter starting November. Stupidly, they didn't even think about Katy. They didn't allow Gaga to do her original creative vision. And Gaga even stated she didn't pick the singles herself....that the label "voted on it". That's why Gaga leaked Aura in the summer. It's why Gaga was about two seconds from rolling her eyes every time Applause was mentioned. It's why she joked she hated performing it at SXSW. it's why Venus got scrapped. It's why the Dwyer video got scrapped. It's why she had to direct GUY by herself.

I swear to God if she writes a tell all one day, she should just reveal what happened because I feel like so many people just ****ed her over.

Can't wait until she is able to get more control over her work... Letting corporate executives vote on music/art is as organic/nature as plastic flowers among fiberglass trees. How many albums are left to complete her contract?

Do your own research.

DAs much as I LOVE that he is participating and hyping LG5, I think it's premature for anyone to imply they know the direction of the project in it's final commercially released state. The songs he's heard (and the songs he'll create with her) could end up on the cutting room floor in the end. Gaga's working with a long list of folks by this point... and these are just the ones we know about! It's unlikely they will all make the cut. Artists almost always produce 30 - 40 tracks before making their final selections for an album.

RedOne
Elton John
Nile Rodgers
Giorgio Moroder
Mark Ronson
DJWS (?)

She hasn't worked with Moroder. Confirmation about her work with Nile is blurry, nothing really confirmed yet.

That leaves us with two producers + Elton.

And I don't think he messed up the title of "Bad Romance". It's almost impossible to confuse "BAD ROMANCE" with "TEOG"

I think when he talked about "going back to the early years", he meant Gaga was going back to its old melodies, the classic rock melodies she developed with You And I, TEOG, even Bad Romance. Because, in fact, Lady Gaga' songs have never been crafted as EDM-infused melodies (except for some songs on ARTPOP) but as piano rock melodies with underground clubs beats

Sadly, most songs from ARTPOP weren't clasically made in a piano, as three of them (Donatella, Mary Jane Holland and Aura) were -Frankesteins- of EDM tracks fully done by either Zedd or Madeon. That's why I don't like when Gaga works with non-underground deejays because they seem to take the creativity out of her and splash its reluctant light halfheartedly buildups while destroying the complexity of an album that could've been great. But ended up being dissapointing in some parts. You can tell the difference between those tracks who started as piano ballads with unforgettable melodies (Do What U Want, Gypsy, Applause chorus) and the ones who weren't made from zero.

I believe this is the final one with Interscope. However, I don't think Interscope was the issue, it was her branch of the label/ her team. Interscope has been great to her.

ARTPOP had been chosen to be released in Novemeber since 2012. Reliable accounts who released a lot of information of ARTPOP (slaveblonde and the ones who kept all the tweets he/she posted + then deleted such as ARTPOPGAGA) tweeted about ARTPOP being released on November 11th a long time ago.

Sistrens, careful about Elton John's comments.

Remember when he first heard BTW and revealed it sounded like the "I will survive" of this generation? Well, it has NOTHING to do with it!!!! (and thank God for that, can't stand the Gloria Gaynor anthem).
