Do you really think that Gaga making a slight change to the arrangement, or altering one line of lyrics, justifies her winning an Oscar for her abilities as a song writer? I don't think so. That is like a book editor taking credit for an author's Pulitzer Prize.

In my opinion, it would have been more respectful for Gaga to bow out and allow Warren to win an Oscar for a song that is clearly her creation.

I want Gaga to win an Oscar, but I want her to earn it.

she produced the damn song and changed meloies and arrangements. diane just had the piano and lyrics. all the orchestra was a composition made by gaga. she has enough credits. diane made the lyrics, she made the instrumental

Somebody should tweet Linda the interview link people have mentioned on here where Gaga and Diane talk about the song and where Gaga never claimed to write the lyrics and where they talk about the collaboration of what Gaga added to the song in the final version.

Wish Diane or Gaga would do that.

I don't know who she is so I'mma continue ignoring her existence

(but didn't we always know that gaga had little impact in the writing of the song?)

That's not true lmfao

The string arrangements were made by Stephen Oremus and if you think she wrote the drum sequence.. :rip: The guitars just follow the chords Diane already had.

It's true that Gaga shaped the sound of the song but technically that's the producer's job. I'm not saying Gaga didn't deserve a writing credit (I can totally see why she got it: the essence of the song changed) but I don't think it's right to fight back Linda with an equally wrong presentation of facts :emma:

Desperado

She was being bitter and did this on purpose, because she didnt want Diane to win an Oscar. Thats the whole issue here. Everyone knew Gaga didnt have a big part on the song because it was already finished when it came to her.

my point is that she did contribute to the writing process/creation of the song, and diane said gaga did change some  chords (thats why they were fighting and only one part of the song ended up with gaga´s idea cause dine didnt like it) so no one should saying gaga was just added in like when she credited RedOne for Gypsy.

Indeed.

No, she could just have not respond, and the first tweet was backhanded shade, to Gaga.

It benefits them both to exaggerate or lie about the amount of song writing credit Gaga deserves for Till It Happens To You, because it increases the songs chances of winning an Oscar. With Warren's song writing credibility and Gaga's star power they are a shoe in to win the Oscar for Best Original Song.

Gaga and Warren are both lobbying hard for this Oscar. Warren has lost several Oscars, and as we saw last weekend at the Globes, Gaga is motivated and thrilled by accolades. I wouldn't put it past either of them to be dishonest about the song writing credits in order to cement their Oscar win.

The real question is, why would Linda Perry lie? She likes Gaga, has spoken positively about her music, and just did a tribute to Bad Romance a few months ago. The only explanation I can think of for Perry's tweet is the defense of artistic integrity. She is probably frustrated to see a fellow song writer having to share the spotlight with a pop star who pretends to be more involved then she actually is.

With her tweets about the situation, I think this can be the case indeed.

Which does not make Gaga look good in the eyes of a fan, like me. I mean, if changing a key for a song (which was btw a suggestion made by Nile Rodgers) and rewriting one line can be considered WRITING, then this may shed some light on Gaga's credibility as a songwriter (I'm looking at you, Beyonce).

Not to mention that her credibility in what she says to the media has been shattered for a long time.

The only thing that can be Gaga's defence is that she was really trying to get involved with the finished song, to make it "hers", but again - is that what an artist do? That's what an interpreter does. Or, as it sadly is in this case, a celebrity hungry for awards and recognition does.
