Normally I wouldn't respond to all this but I don't know Im feeling spunky. There was another artist that originally was gonna sing #TIHTY

I have Diane's original demo with her singing. The only line that has been changed "Till you're at the end, the end of your rope"

LINDA PERRY ‏@RealLindaPerry · 2m2 minutes ago
Originally was "TIL YOU GOT A HOLE RIPPED IN YOUR SOUL". So I guess technically one line was changed so sure Gaga possibly "rewrote" a line

LINDA PERRY ‏@RealLindaPerry · 1m1 minute ago
But chances are Diane still took part in rewriting that line which means Gaga contributed a few words. Is that writing? Not in my book.

I love Gaga so much respect and love this song that has nothing to do with anything. Why did Gaga get credit? Maybe because ...

Diane wanted to ensure her support in promoting the song. Gaga is a very smart business women she knew a song written by Diane Warren

Would be up for an Oscar. And you know it's hard getting music out there and heard. Especially a song from a documentary , so Diane knew

If she gave Gaga writing credit it would ensure the support this song needed and deserved. And Gaga knows her power. I'm not putting anyone

Or anything down. I'm stating the truth . I credit Diane for writing this song, it is her experience her pain her words. That's it kids.

That bad then, because the Academy Awards can actually revoke the nomination for false information.

Mess.

Though Gaga is said to have helped with the composition, which is not just lyrics, it's piano bits and orchestration?

Regardless, what was any of this to Linda? This is not Linda's song, and Diane really wants that Oscar, so she's not doing her any favors.

Okay I really don't understand what Linda Perry is mad about

In both the Timestalk and THR interviews, Gaga and Diane explicitly stated that it was Diane who approached Gaga with the song, and then they spent a long time reworking it to fit Gaga's direction for the mood of the song. Diane even said that Gaga completely changed the buildup and feel of the song, which deserved credit for Gaga

Was Linda in the session with Gaga and Diane when they were working on the song? I don't think so. Diane clearly has enormous respect for what Gaga contributed to the song, so I don't understand why she's trying to create problems

Diane better say something. :air:

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

Intriguing :udidnt:

I mean credits work like if you're involved at all with the lyrics, whether it be a few words or the bulk, then you can be credited. Gaga's done it for others in the past so Diane could've done it for Gaga here, it's not hard to believe  Whether Linda likes it or not Gaga's involvement allows her to be credited as a co-writer so I don't see what her problem is exactly :emma: If she doesn't believe Gaga co-wrote enough then that's a separate issue, but in the sense of credits and stuff she's done enough :laughga:

Not to mention songwriting does not solely equal lyrics

If anything about the melody or the structure of the song is changed, that also constitutes songwriting

Right? I think their claim was that Gaga changed to a less delicate way of singing, the melodic delivery. Plus, she produced, and that could count for co-write even though she did not write the lyrics. Gaga gives these types of credits to her producers all the time.
