Middle Eastern women are treated with far less respect than those in European countries. Even countries as progressive as Lebanon still have laws that would make you laugh, like women not being able to give citizenship to children borne from foreign fathers. Fyi, you're on my ignore list and I didn't see the notification for this, but this system is flawed and I read this post; so this will be my last time addressing you. I know you admire Europeans so much, but you never lived in these countries and you have no idea about sexual harrassment of women and disrespect by the native Europeans whether it's during working hours or in night clubs, it's among highly educated people, politicians and among low-lifes. It's not an exclusive thing to Arabs or Africans and it's not part of anyone's cultural values to rape women. That's what this is about. The laws of some countries have nothing to do with these people's letter who came to Germany as refugees and are grateful for acceptance and they're condemning what happened; the topic is about attacks in Cologne and robbery/sexual assault. The hate crimes are on the rise because of this. So either stay on topic or open new thread about how much you admire Europeans and how much they're superior to everyone else or whatever. bye bye 4 minutes ago, Stigma said: And you do? Yes I do. It's against their values and culture to steal from people and assault/harm women and your response to that was 'maybe' like you would know anything about them. That is racist to assume that majority of Syrians are like that or that they would condone criminal behaviour. These refugees are not all urban, cultured people from Damascus... a lot of them came from bullet-pocked cinderblock houses with an rusty Toyota and some goats... for example: look in the background of any video of the Syrian war. My point is: many refugees might have a culture that is not be as respectful of women as 2015 European culture. Why did these attacks happen in the first place? What is your evidence that these criminals have any association with ISIS? Yeah the rapists, robbers, molesters are of all ethicities and religions. Shocker. Are gang rapes in India or Brazil inspired by ISIS too? You still have zero evidence that these attacks were religiously motivated. Religion is a big, big part of culture. Sexism is a big part of Arab culture, and it's also important to have dignity as a woman (no flirting, least possible communication with men, etc). Also, Syria is much more autocratic, and coming to a country like Germany will give them some kind of freedom, which they do not know properly how to respect because they are unfamiliar with it. These values are rooted in religion, and thus are the root cause of this rapefest.

This will be my last post on this topic. These attacks were co-ordinated and organized by criminals who gathered from different cities, who used this refugee crisis to enter the EU, like it happened before during the Balkan wars. Among those arrested some are Iraqis, some North Africans, one from Serbia and one from the United States (are these last two refugees?). Those with rusty Toyotas and goats are still in refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan or dead. Those who had more money, who could sell what they owned, they are the ones who reached Europe. 12 minutes ago, Luc said: Religion is a big, big part of culture. There is no way for anyone of us to know the motives behind these attacks, these things are not taught in their schools or by their mothers. Some of them can have prejudice towards European women in a sense that they heard from other Arabs who dated them, that they are easy, they have sex on first dates etc. but that just shows how little they care about religion. If they would be so religious and worry about so called free mixing between men and women, they wouldn't be doing this in the first place since it's one of major sin in islam. You're saying flirting is forbidden for woman, it's the same for a man. So he's either a hypocrite or non-religious. I'm done here. In any case, I'm going to respond to you if you don't mind. I don't think it's fair for you to be so condescending and rude when I haven't even been like that to you. You aren't being cute by being dismissive either. First of all I don't know where you get off thinking that the situations in Europe and the Middle East are remotely equivalent. Of course incidences of sexual abuse are not unique anywhere, but what I was referring to was the mere fact that sexism is much more prevalent in the Middle East than Europe. If you think that's debatable, then tell me the next time you are not allowed to vote, drive, show your hair, marry someone of your choice, etc.. Perhaps when we get over these basic issues, then we can start discussing the topics you are so keen on focusing on. Culturally speaking, which laws are most definitely intertwined with, it is a simple fact that women are treated with less respect in the Middle East than in Europe. Edited just now by LebaneseDude. I wasn't implying that they do it because of Islam, but because of the culture that Islam has greatly contributed to. An atheist or secular can still be sexist, if that's the value he grew up with. Compare it to paedophilia (not child **** or rape/child sex). Atheists and seculars don't accept it generally, because they grew up in a society where paedophilia is greatly frown upon. I think some might even be proud of beating somebody up for being a paedophile. This is ultimately rooted in the values that you grow up with. What I'm trying to say is that these values, and how society here works in general, needs to be taught to the refugees as soon as possible. Integration is not just the language, because only a very small percentage of progressives will share the same values as most other Germans... or you'll have to face as a consequence failed integration with the unintegrated seeing their own values as superior, causing even more segregation. mmm 879
Syria is actually a secular country and the problem is not with the culture or islam.. most syrian refugees are not rapists but when you take in people from a certain society that are uneducated, poor, lived traumatic lives and were never exposed to another culture, these kind of problems will happen specially that the majority of them are young single men who are in a country where their sexual market is way down unlike in their own country. This is something that can happen with any kind of race even whites but I wont give examples to not be called a racist. From what I red, I do not see any racist comments here specially from the people who were accused of racism but in my opinion, there is a misunderstanding on the syrian culture and its people.
