"This will be Bowie's first #1 album in the US."

Kinda sad but also shows how charts don't really determine an artist's status in the industry.

The grandiose art of it all! Bowie is more known for his ART and his always critically praised records/albums. A number one to him is nothing.

"Known for his art"

How I wish Gaga was more known for her art than her "crazy" (I hate using this word) outfits

His first number one album??? Just goes to show how meaningless achieving a number one is in the path to becoming a legend.

:applause: He has had a major affect on almost every artist that's around now and has been around for years. From Madonna to Lorde. How amzing! So much T in your statement.

And some fans keep crying about Gaga not selling millions of copies and "slaying" the charts all year. Some of the best artists in music history don't even have a #1 album or even a Grammy, just like some of the best actors/actresses and even movies don't win Oscars. There are so many albums in the world that not all of us get a chance to listen to and see how great they are because they're not made for the masses.

I had no idea none of his albums had topped the charts, but I'm not surprised. Bowie is the kind of legend that is appreciated in the UK first, then the US but has a big influence on many many artists and bands but those who are influenced by him are label puppets and end up getting more credit than the real inspiration behind it.

Look at it this way: Gaga's crazy outfits are her art, just like Bowie's crazy outfits are as well. Congrats to Bowie though, its a great album!

At least the people are learning that they should have been keen to listening to David Bowie's music all along. Black Star isn't even his good stuff.

Yeah that's true I shouldn't have separated the two as Gaga sees her art in the visual(outfits, performances) and also the music.

He currently has 21 albums in the top 40 here in the UK js... [this includes remasters, remix and compilation albums btw]

Adele fell down to #7 and they're predicting she'll fall out of the top 10 by the time the chart closes here on sunday, he's scalping from beyond the grave not even Michael did that when he died :emma:

actually at his peak he had the same backlash for his style Gaga did, people only respect him now because of his obvious influence and also the fact he's dead that's all tbh

REALITY

So deserved, but it's sad to see that only now do people of this generation pay attention to one of the most iconic and legendary acts of all time.

Also, he had 7 number one albums here in the UK and that's more important since this is is his home country tbh, the US chart isn't the be-all end-all just like the US isn't the most important country in the world

It isn't, but it is the number one music market in the world. That's why so many artists try to make it in the US. Of course, you can still have tons of support from outside the US and do extremely well. Some artists who never did as well in the US ended up being one of the top artists of all time because they sold well in Europe and other continents.
