According to Billboard, David Bowie will end Adele's reign on the Billboard 200. Adele has reigned for 7 weeks in a row. Bowie's new album Blackstar was released on January 8 and is expected to sell 130,000 copies. This will be Bowie's first #1 album in the US. His last album released in 2013, The Next Day is currently his highest charting album at #2.

He has two platinum certified albums; 1983's Let's Dance and 1984's Tonight.

Rest in peace David

His first number one album??? Just goes to show how meaningless achieving a number one is in the path to becoming a legend.

Which to his artistic existence means nothing...he could sell 2 albums, a star is a star!

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

Exactly!

Same with Cher who still hasn't had a number one album. Closer to the Truth went #3 and became her highest charting album.

Therefore, all Little Chartsters on here should relax if Gaga doesn't always chart high. You don't need that in order to have a long and great career.

Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?

I don't think that's little when you see how much it sold already in the US tbh.

You see Gaga was right when she said Music Not The Bling, 10 or 20 years from now, we won't remember which song or album was #1, we will only remember the music.

David Bowie has never done well with albums sales in the US. He was very much a cultural icon here in the US. However, he was extremely successful in Europe. Kylie Minogue says HI!.

I think he might have been too "weird" for people in the US at the time to have that success he had in Europe. To me, Europe has always seemed much more progressive in that respect.
