I hate that Gaga isn't taken seriously by some (still) ...

People mock her mostly because she is a pop star. They think they're enlightened and more intelligent if they enjoy rock/alternative music. Total b*llshit

...has anybody seen my disco stick?

I just ignore it this point. Between the electricity of Born This Way, the effervescence of ARTPOP, the unbridled vocal power of Cheek to Cheek and all of these breathtaking tribute performances, and now her award-winning acting performance, there is no question that Gaga has cemented her as one of the most talented, multifaceted artists of her generation. The accolades she has received by her peers, by the legends of music/film/art/fashion, and now by multiple industries, is more than enough validation for me.

The media and the haters can suck it, honestly. Gaga knows who she is, what she wants out of her career, and that is more than I can say for most of the people who shït-talk her daily.

Doesn't matter. We know her talents and appreciate what she does and that's all that needs to happen. If people have their mind set on hating someone, that's how they will be. Not everyone is going to love her and her music, but rational people will at least appreciate that she's talented. But not everyone is rational. She could win a Nobel Peace Prize for doing something incredibly and there would still be people saying "lol trannyga". But it doesn't matter. She's put her talents out there and she's continuing to receive accolades and praise for it.

It's only when artists get older and ultimately die that they are truly appreciated, sadly. Like people have said, Bowie faced his share of bullshit during his peak too. Now I'm not saying Gaga will go on to reach his level, but if she puts out good music again her legacy will stand firmly and people will look back on her as a great talent. It happens to everyone. Michael Jackson was made into an absolute laughing stock in his later years but the day he died everyone suddenly realised what they had lost and there was an outpour of love. Not to sound morbid but I think it will be the same with Madonna too. She's still going now and she has this crappy image and whenever I hear people talk about her now it's "old hag", "she's too old for this" blah blah blah. But when she passes the world will mourn for her.

In fact I think the fact Gaga is so polarising is a good thing. She's not one dimensional and none of the greats are. Some of the stuff she is called up on is at least fair - she isn't perfect - but haters will always be there.

Besides I think it's kind of inappropriate to mourn Bowie and in turn try to make it about Gaga. That reflects badly on her and her fans tbh.

It makes me really angry and sad and just sick. David Bowie was eccentric and provocative too, but nobody seemed to complain about him - they saw his legendary potential? Ist it because when a woman is outgoing and pushing boundaries it is viewed differently? So many people on my Facebook timeline (that I personally know) mocked her Golden Globe win or when I wrote how influenced Gaga is by Bowie one wrote "it's a mockery even comparing her to him" (I didn't compare, I just stated how much he meant to her, but they haven't understood that) etc. etc. - it seems to me some people will never "get" it... Like I post links where she sings live to proof that how amazingly talented she is for example and they don't want to even click on it. "Before I listen to Gaga, I would rather cut my ears off" some girl wrote to me. Uggghhh ... It makes me feel down. Like no matter what she does and how many awards she wins etc. - there will always be those people who don't even want to question their own prejudice and this just makes me sooo raging. Because I know some of those ignorants would LOVE her if they just clicked one of the videos I posted them tbh

Honey, something I learned a long time ago is that there are people out there who will not take her seriously, no matter how hard you try to prove her to them. So my advice would be to stop trying. Try to accept that some people harbour a lot of negativity inside of them, and will really be stubborn about being proven wrong and accepting her as a true talent. If someone doesn't like her and goes out of their way to comment nasty things on your posts about her, don't even acknowledge that they posted, ignore them, and continue to love her just as much as you always have. Because we the fans know how important she is and how talented and genuine she is. That's why we congregate here on Gagadaily  because we 'get' her in ways that others don't.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I don't know why I replied because you just said everything that needed to be said!

I think about these things all the time, and I think it's cool that Gaga has obviously influenced so many of us and the way that we think, and we now think alike and see things we would never have seen without her! That's something special! The fact that she's taught and raised so many of us in ways that we wouldn't have been without her. She's really had an impact on our generation in such a positive way.

(Sorry, unrelated rant :laughga:)

It's very depressing, to be honest. You see her gaining more and more success and you can clearly see that she's in a very happy place, yet the majority still look at her like a crazy, nasty pop star with no substance. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING.

Well said. Back in 2013 and 2014, I kinda hoped she would achieve that Katy Perry-level kind of success, a great big tour, two singles that achieved 1 billion views that peaked at #1 on Hot 100, I mean Prism didn't win a Grammy but was nominated for two Grammys after all. ARTPOP wasn't, even though I consider it to be a wonderful album.

I was worried for Gaga a little bit, but today I am so grateful and proud she took the longer-term view to reinvent herself and establish her legacy. She's pushing her limit in a way that many contemporary pop singers haven't. She's garnered so much respect, has become so diverse today that I think her pop music in the future will have much more recognition because of all these.

She's one of the very few artists that I can say, has been exploding since the beginning of her career.

Kermit the frog

Because David Bowie actually created something meaningful and deep and was always true to himself. While Gaga... Let's be real for a moment, she puts out music crafted for (and she's shameless enough to admit it!) the radio and goes to all lengths to make people believe it's art. During last 4 years she's contradicted almost everything that made people believe in her. I know she's changed, is happy now and all that, but... this just all seems so fake. That's why people find her extremely pretentious, deservedly so.

I can't imagine a new album with this new celebrity persona she has acquired. She was convincing enough during TFM era for me to still be here, although this is her last chance.

To people that want to call me "pressed"  or any other highly intelligent terms of that sort: please, do not bother, I will not reply.
