ARTPOPNick 3,486
36 minutes ago, Didymus said: I also think she wasn't as good as her competition but let me represent the people who get how this award show works but don't spread around negativity for it I mean, this is what we expected and this is what the majority of journalists expected. The Guardian was candid enough to publish: "Will win: Lady Gaga - Should win: Kirsten Dunst." I've known this award show was questionable ever since Madonna won in 1997. Televised award shows just work a different way, especially when they're run by journalists, not critics. I mean, it's telling that for the Critics' Choice Awards several Hotel actors are nominated, but not Gaga. That's just how it goes. So I don't think that people like @Snow should be so spiteful, personally. This is what we expected, it's a great award for Gaga to have, it's a win win for the fanbase ànd the award show (just imagine how much buzz this fanbase created for free - that's what it's for) and that's all there is to it. I don't like how these shows work either but that's our own problem. I agree that it's a little comical to see people say stuff like "talent wins" etc. when they surely wouldn't have said the same back in 1997 but just like the Golden Globes, that's just how this forum works and whining about it isn't gonna do much good. Amen to that... This is the same fact some members here tried to explain when they said gaga didn't deserve the award (when the nominations were announced) but they didn't say it as clear as you... The thing is, we are not bringing Gaga down, but we all have to understand that one of the reasons (not all of them because she acted great) this award went to gaga is because she is gaga... She is a pop singer who creates buzz + brings a whole fandom (=extra money)... You all guys would be completly freaking out if an actor made a music album and won Grammy - Best Pop Vocal Album over Gaga when you know that all the critics praised Gaga's album and there were some articles (will win: the actor, should win: gaga) and the reviews of the actor's album were just "good, not exceptional" The grammy's are not the same as the GG but you all just have to understand that it's not only the acting that made gaga win (because there were some better actresses in the list) But I'm happy for her and we need to celebrate with her! Zilla 13,383
Ya'll arguing about a group of people who decide who wins a piece of metal with someone's name engraved on it lol She won and that's how it's going to be. I understand how some are pressed over it but it happened, it won't change, and we have to move on. That being said, I was shocked that she won but I am happy for her. I think she did a great job on AHS and although I see the argument, she earned it. She put the work in. 𝙸'𝚖 𝚊 𝚓𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚓𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚎𝚜 𝚔𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚘𝚏 𝚐𝚒𝚛𝚕. Mister Gaga 22,889
1 hour ago, Didymus said: It's just the system. And it's all very understandable. Gaga winning this award is a testament to her media power, her presence in it (I mean, journalists and photographers vote for a reason), the power of her fanbase to bring free promo ànd her performance, last but not least, because if she was an awful actress she'd never have gotten the nomination. You have to remember, Gaga sent in "Flicker" for submission which was an amazing episode for her to show off her acting skills ànd we also knew that in the category she was in (Mini-Series/TV Film) only lead actors could be nominated. Sarah/Kathy/... didn't even have a chance so that explains a lot too. So all that pretty much makes Gaga the perfect candidate and in the system that the show represents, she's the perfect winner. There's nothing "wrong" with that per se. It's just like the televised Grammy categories. I mean, everyone likes to boast about how important Grammy's are but really, some nominations have been an absolute mess (Teenage Dream being nominated for Album of the Year, anyone?). It's all for buzz, it's all for publicity and I'm sure the actors know that too. So y'know. No need to get upset imo and invite people to trash you and call you a fake Gaga fan again Let's just keep our eyes on the award shows we think matter source? I don't even know if you're supposed to send episodes in for this award.. Anyway, if she would have, that was obviously the one she chose. But the deadline for the submissions was Oct 30, and Flicker aired on Nov 19...that's why i asked you. By the way, i agree with your posts about gags and her (un)deserved GG, and how award shows work.

Oh, mess Well that just adds to my point She only had four episodes to choose from and those weren't her best either Anyway, Flicker proves to everyone she can pull her weight as an actress so fine. And lovely  I'm glad I'm not alone.

I know not only Gaga fans watched, but we do watch weekly which helps the show be successful, and that in turn gives her an award for a show that wouldn't exist without us. Just my opinion. StrawberryBlond 14,820
At the end of the day, we know the award went to someone who worked hard and was passionate about the role. It sucks when someone wins an award who didn't try and didn't care. Even if Gaga did win it for who she is, we know she's good and a lot of others do too, so what's the problem? Even winning because it was fixed doesn't detract from her talent or dedication. If she partly won because of who she is, it's a sign that the media are getting on her side again and that can only be a good thing if we want this next era to stand a chance at succes. ...But I bet this has calmed down all those people who got annoyed at her losing that People's Choice Award. A PCA award for a Golden Globe - it just goes to show the phrase "You win some, you lose some" is completely true!

The reaction of The audience was telling (not only Leo). I say it again, I liked and ejoyed her in AHS and she was ok, but NOWHERE near The level of acting as The other nominees... Just for publicity and Gaga has done nothing but ass kissing The entire year in every industry party. Clearly bought. Sorry, Im bitter! As a fan of acting and ALL this, I repeat, NOT DESERVED! She deserved ALL The slaughtering she's getting in The media now. The Oscar I really want her to get, but this noup... i actually have to agree. I'm the biggest gaga fan and i absolutely loved that she starred in my fav tv show.. but she isn't nearly as good as an actress as Queen Latifah or Kirsten Dunst. the whole thing was just painful to watch. I feel really awkward tbh
