(That's not to say she was doing Black face, but bc of Black face history, this look could be easily misinterpreted and seen as offensive. Just providing context, as you asked a question about it.)

 

I know very well what black face is. But I quoted a post about "brown face" which is literally the equivalent of tanning. So what I asked is are there people out there who now consider tanning offensive too alongside with the thousands of things that became racist and problematic in 2015.

I make this because I saw some members referring to how disastrous this look was the other day, so clearly the resentment still lives on this forum. Which is kinda confusing because when she looks like this, nobody complains:

So what is it about this look? Why is this considered too "far" or "ugly" for her when she has, imo, obviously done a lot more to look off-putting? Why doesn't the "she's making a statement" factor work for this one?

The people who don't like this look were either one of the below: (at least for me) 

a) not around during The Fame era, so have no concept of what its about. 

b) have no artistic understanding to what she is doing and therefore cannot appreciate this masterpiece.

c) lack taste.

d) all of the above.

 

Probably going to get heat for the above but its true. These looks and that photoshoot were iconic and flawless!

There is a huge difference between these two tho  first of all, in 2014 she hae black hair, wich actually fits with a darker skin tone, but in that interview, she had platinum blonde wich imo doesnt really fit with the tan

the tan is also not as agressive in 2014 wich it was in the photoshoot/interview

Wow, her wig budget back then mustve been very low . She def stepped up her wig game in late 2009.
