Gagadonna 10,801
I love the look on the second pic. It's like The Fame was meeting Cheek to cheek.

Jesse Pinkman 4,660
14 minutes ago, Didymus said: I disagree just because, in my opinion, Gaga implied that Interscope's tight grip on her was AFTER she hit so hard with Bad Romance. As she said in 2014: "They start asking you: How are you gonna continue this success?" Then it's all about replicating your moves to replicate the same commercial success. I think she was actually more free during The Fame than during Born This Way. I mean, you could tell simply because no one wanted to spend money on the Monster Ball and she nearly went broke because of spending her own money. But it was her vision and she wanted it, no matter what it cost her. That doesn't sound like a woman struggling to keep up her image, that sounds like a woman in full control of her output and it turned out to be a huge success (which, sadly, is probably why Interscope tightened the screw). That's just how I see it, mostly because I think her ideas in her early days were far more conceptually sound than the more recent ones, which makes sense, because she had a lot more time to prepare. I dont think everything she did was a gimmick. I do agree that The Fame was very authentic for sure. But I feel the gimmicks became gradual thing. The more successful she became, the more they had to push the whole Lady Gag shtick. And somewhere along the way she lost her true self. The Fame is an amazing era becuase it showed Gaga at her most hungriest and ambitious, but I do find some things to be gimmicky still. I like where she is now because she's more vulnerable I guess. Like her Emotion Revolution look with the rock t-shirt and jeans; we would have never seen that earlier in her career because her team was pushing the whole, Lady Gaga doesn't wear pants thing. And then remember when she went around saying that everyone including her own mother refers to her as Lady Gaga? Now, she's actually admitting that Gaga and Stefani are two different people. Its just more refreshing for me nowadays because she seems much more relaxed and down to earth. I bet walking around like she's really a character she created 24/7 caused her a lot of anxiety. But like I said, she had to do what she had to do, It's science, bitch

PrincessFried 22
It was for a photo shoot. This was an interview she did afterwards. The effect in the photos is orange, not brown.
Shadow 6,625
I, for one, loved the look and the Noisevox interview was one of my favorites. Her horns look for her Jay Leno talk show interview was one of my favorites also. Both were very creative and daring. What makes those looks great is her confidence and knowing most artists would hardly go far enough to wear a mask, much less a full body costume like Gaga did. Do your own research. Sister 9,907
I did not mind it and just chalked it up to Gaga and her ever changing looks and experiments. I also really love that interview, so I have never thought against it at all. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

But like I said, she had to do what she had to do, I completely agree with you, but then that makes me think about how much of what she has said is genuine, and how much is basically marketing that she has been pushed to communicate again and again. For example, the amount of times she's said things like 'I put my bins out in this (crazy/eccentric) clothing' or 'I would rather die than have my fans not see me in heals' or statements about never wearing anything 'normal'. Was that something she genuinely wanted to stick to, or was it what her label wanted? Then she'd talk for ages about how Gaga is not a character, and that Gaga and Stefani are the same person, and she'd actually get quite frustrated trying to explain that Gaga is who she's always been, yet now she seems to be communicating the opposite We have no legal choice but to stan
