Run Away with Me
Released: July 17, 2015
Charting: #49 on US Pop Digital Songs (peak)

Your Type
Released: November 9, 2015
Charting: N/A

E•MO•TION

Cosmopolitan: #1 Album of 2015
Entertainment Weekly: #2 Album of 2015
Rolling Stone: #7 Pop Album of 2015; #48 Album of 2015
Billboard: #24 Album fo 2015

E•MO•TION has received a lot of praise from critics, but as failed to break into the mainstream. What do you think is holding the album (and Carly) back? Is it the fact that they released a mindless (albeit catching) bop as the lead single, giving mainstream audiences the idea that she hasn't grown since "Call Me Maybe"? Is it the fact that they had a horribly boring debut music video?

Your taste is really good, marry me please :flutter:
Run away with me is one of the best singles of 2015
She just shouldn't have started the era with I really like you i think, the rest of the album is amazing.

She has zero personality and is beyond awful live.

I've never watched her perform live.

She's not that bad, at least just this one time. She's not stellar, but it's enjoyable.

Thanks. I like some really weird ****, too. :laughga: I agree. Run Away with Me should've been the debut.

This actually makes me very sad because her album is one of the best -if not the best- of the year, but also she delivers amazing visuals and her video for Your Type was beyond amazing.

I think the lead single & its video are really the problem here. Even though I love I Really Like You, she had many better choices and the video was just tragic.

Lead single was mediocre

No radio support for the other singles and even I really like you + she doesnt do promo.

Basic music videos (the songs are really good unfortunately)

If i were here i would ask my team to book me to every tv show tbh. Run Away with me could have been a decent hit.

Fail, she did a lot of promo for I Really Like You (Dancing With The Stars, Ellen and whatnot) and I don't think the videos for the last two singles are that bad. But I agree with you with booking every TV show. Jimmy Fallon and late shows could have helped her & her new aesthetic a lot, however, she's busy touring now, I guess.

She doesn't need to dress like Gaga to have personality. :awkney: She has her own style and her music is amazing.

E-MO-TION is keeping E-MO-TION from ruling the charts,

+ her music has no feeling to it, I liked Call Me Maybe because it was hyped everywhere and it was released during a time where pointless trends were thought to have meaning but didn't (Harlem Shake f.e)

OmgSum1Actually

When I first listened to the album, it reminded me of 1989 and the point is you can't have two similar albums slaying at the same time

I read some article about Carly Rae Jepsen, and her manager seemed to not care about making Emotion a smash hit. He came off as just wanting to ~establish~ Carly Rae as an artist who has more to show the world than "Call Me Maybe." In addition, Carly Rae isn't the kind of person to seek superstardom. When asked about Emotion's sales, she was like "I'm glad it sold that many copies in the first place." This is the article I was talking about.

It's unfortunate that Emotion was slept on, but if neither the manager nor the artist has the drive to make it known (despite the promo it received), then I feel like that affects the commercial success of the album. In addition, I believe that "Run Away with Me" should've been the lead single. I've heard so much more praise for that song than the actual lead single.

I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.
