Gaga fought for the song and simply hates the memories associated with it. Well saying it's generic isn't exactly an unfair argument, but it doesn't make it a bad song either. And to be fair, she did quite literally say "I hate Telephone" in response to a question asking what her worst song is, so it's pretty understandable since she worded what she meant very strangely. I just don't understand why you seem so angry when the song came out six years ago and this interview happened four and a half years ago. There will be Gaga fans who hate the entirety of TFM and others who think it's her best work. People think different things. Just because Gaga said she hates Telephone does it mean that fans will suddenly hate it. She's not too keen on Money Honey either but I personally love both of those songs. Maybe you're thinking the issue is bigger than it was, because I'm an active member of the community and I've never witnessed what you're talking about. Because it's clearly a bad rumor. Britney recorded Telephone which is available on the web anywhere and Gaga stated she had to fight to get the song back. I do remember that Gaga had tried to get Telephone as early as The Fame, but Britney still wanted to keep it for future projects.
