Radio Ga Ga 5,651
Ultraviolence > Born to Die > Paradise > Honeymoon Ultraviolence has all my favorite lana songs on it: the other woman, old money, west coast Born to die is decent too Paradise falls flat on a lot of songs for me, but Bel Air, American, blue velvet, and maybe yayo saved the album/EP for me I don't connect with honeymoon too much, i like high by the beach, religion and salvatore, but that's about it... OmgSum1Actually 3,041
I kinda know that Ultraviolence is her best album when it comes to quality, but I just love Born To Die Paradise Edition just because of the fact that every single song is really good on that album and I can't say the same for Ultraviolence I would rate BTD Paradise with 10 out of 10, and Ultraviolence with a 9 and Honeymoon with a 7. I think she needs more time to come out with an album like BTDP - it had quality and commercial appeal Shameless selfpromo

Brooke Hoegan 1,018
Born To Die + Paradise (and some demos in that celestial style) , then Honeymoon I don't like UV at all, it has too foggy/muddy sound for me

I really didn't want to write this, but my love for Lana is immense and I love to talk about her and her music to others on here. I like all 4 albums of hers (crazy to think she already has 4 legit albums!) and I cannot rank them in order. There are so many good qualities on BTD, P, UV and H. I love the strings mixed with the fast beats found on Born To Die - Off to the Races, Dark Paradise, SS and TIWMUG are all very good examples. I love the semi-sad theme found throughout BTD. Plus, it was such a strong and mature record for her debut. Sure, some of the sounds get repetitive, but to this day I can still listen to that album almost completely through (I do sometime skip the title track, Radio, Lolita and Lucky Ones). Paradise was such a good follow-up and it was such a treat to receive a similar follow-up in such a short time from her debut release. Paradise was a continuation of BTD with similar sounds and lyrics, but with even darker themes and tones. I fell in love with Ride and its music video, and the darkness in the lyrics of Cola, Body Electric, Gods & Monsters, and Burning Desire really did it for me. I like to group both BTD and P together, but if I had to choose, I'd choose Born to Die as a whole. I remember seeing Lana live for the first time a month prior to the release of Ultraviolence. I was sooo excited for the record (released just a few days after my birthday!) and I was so happy for new music. I was a little discouraged when all that was announced were 11 tracks (one of which was a cover) but then I was satisfied with the release of 5 bonus tracks on a deluxe edition. The few tracks that leaked (Angels Forever, Black Beauty, Hollywood, JFK, etc.) gave me false expectation for UV, but after a year and a half, I am still oh so satisfied with the record. Cruel World is my everything. My 2nd or 3rd favorite track of her whole career (only after OTTR and maybe The Blackest Day). The first half of UV is also my everything. It flows so well. Sad Girl is where it starts getting mixed (not a fan, but then Pretty When You Cry) is everything too. MPG is sooooo good. Old Money is sooo heartbreaking. The deluxe edition tracks are superb too (Black Beauty, Guns & Roses and Flipside). I felt that FMWUTTT was a desperate attempt to be naughty (sorry) and I tended to lean more towards MPG for the darker songs of the record. I do wish the Endless Summer Tour featured more live performances of the record, but I do think that tour was the be the conclusion of the start of her career which is why there we less tracks from UV performed. I'd do anything to hear the whole record performed live. As Honeymoon (song) was released, I was far from impressed. Only the bridge was enjoyable. I did not download the song at first. High By the Beach was so promising, only to find out the record was far from similar. As I look back to the start of the Honeymoon era, I felt let down. 3 months later, it is my favorite album of hers. It tells a story almost, even if the tracks do seem a little random. Music To Watch Boys To is beautiful. God Knows I Tried, while repetitive, is amazing. The holy trinity, HBTB, Freak and Art Deco are all equal in my eyes -- amazing. Burn Norton is interesting, but very skippable. Religion is subpar, and also skippable. The last part of the record is my favorite.. Salvatore - The Blackest Day - 24 - Swan Song - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood. I am obsessed. I have also swapped Terrence Loves You also a highlights) to be after the interlude and I feel that definitely complete the amazing last half of the album. Overall, all her albums are extraordinary, and I do not know if Honeymoon is my favorite only because it is, or just because it is new. Regardless, I love Lana. If you've made it this far, you can see that she is most definitely my favorite artist, and she has been a big inspiration in my life. I love her and her music and I hope to see another 20+ years of music from her. Loved this post and learning about your faves!
VenusBlackStar 1,301
Aaaahhh it's wayyyyy too close between Honeymoon and Ultraviolence but I think I'm gonna go with Ultraviolence just for the psychedelic rock-ish feel to a lot of the album.
