For instance, the modern band CHVRCHES is known for having 1980s sound/vibe because the music they make sounds like what was mainstream during that time. If you listen to songs like "Uptown Funk" or "All About the Bass" you'll most likely think of the era when their respective musical styles were popular and mainstream. I think the user is saying that "Zillion" sounds like popular songs during 2012. I'm not saying they're right, but genres/musical styles do get dated with popularity.
