Hi, I'm a bit new to GGD and a bit new to being a fan of Gaga herself, so I don't really know the fanbase's opinions on her album/single art, and when I discovered Gaga all of them had been released:rip:

anyways, what are your guys opinion on the covers and also the following questions...

If you could replace the album/cover art with another pic, what would it be?

was it how you expected it?

does it fit the music?

best/worst album/single cover?

my opinions : The Fame - a solid debut album cover, I like the glossiness and I think it fits the music (even tho fame is my least favorite album.)

the Fame Monster - prob her best album cover, it's simplistic, gothic, unique, and it fits all the music (except Speechless/So Happy I could Die imo)

I don't really like the alternative black hair one, it's pretty but barely looks like a gaga album.

Born This Way - the regular one w/ the motorcycle is ugly af, especially with the shiny font. The deluxe is much better and fits the music, personally I think the BTW single cover would have SLAYED as an album cover, and the BTW single cover should have been the gooey umbrella pic for the BTW remixes album.

Judas - Although it's quite funny the "texture" story, I think it was pretty good actually

TEOG - the song itself doesn't really fit with the dark imagery of the BTW era, but this artwork isn't bad.

Applause - one of my favs, partly bc it's mysterious and hinted at the ARTPOP era, I think was the best choice and didn't give away a lot from the video (Venus outfit!)

Venus - (all 3 of them) creepy gross and generally kinda ugly (the color schemes)... Idk why she didn't just use a pic of her in a Venus outfit...

DWUW - obviously the best one

ARTPOP - I have mixed feelings abt this one (a lot of critics seem to like it, as it was put in a ton of "best album cover lists") I mean the statue looks beautiful but I really hate the font & the background, it matches the music in a way (colorful) but I think they should have made the background more solid and used a more clean font like TFM's font. A pic of Venus would have also been more appealing Imo.

I want to hear your guys opinions!

The Venus ones are hilarious. I love the one that looks like she has a hot dog in her mouth.

The Fame: it's iconic and a perfect representation of early Gaga and her music

fame singles are tacky but they probably weren't at the time

The Fame Monster: love it, love brunette one even more

BR, Alejandro, DITD singles are flawless

Telephone is a tacky mess but kind of works in a way. Maybe it was tacky on purpose?

Born This Way (album): standard is very striking and kind of cool in a Prince type of way. Special edition is perfect

Love all the single covers from this era

ARTPOP: one of my favorite album covers of all time. It's colorful, unique, it's just so amazing. I love it

Applause is amazing and memorable

DWYW kinda has the minimalist thing going on

Pacify Him

ARTPOP has the best album cover imo. Simply put, she is Venus in the Botticelli painting. Plus the statue slays all others

As for the single cover, I'd go with TEOG because she looks like a mysterious mythical being. Bad Romance and then Paparazzi. I like DWUW one too.

I’m getting on your nerves

Gaga's single covers are probably my favourite of any artist :flutter: Each of them stands out in their own way so well and I don't find any of them boring. Even the simplistic ones (Judas for example) have something going for them :nick:

The only album cover I'd really replace would be ARTPOP's, I do love the one we have but I think the promo picture with the mask would've made an even better cover.

The Gaga album that I couldn't have ever expected was Born This Way's, but I've grown to love it and I really think that it represents the music very well - all darkish and metallic :laughga: Generally her covers do fit the music I think, The Fame being what it is, The Fame Monster being this mysterious darkish thing, Born This Way explained before, and ARTPOP being a mixture of a lot

Best album cover I'd give to The Fame Monster deluxe, like I can't explain it but it takes my breath away even in its simplicity

Best single cover has to be The Edge of Glory, it's another one of those that every time I see it I'm like " " in awe

Worst album cover I'd give to the standard Born This Way, not because I don't like it but because I prefer the others, whereas the deluxe version is higher than most of the other album covers :toofunny:

Worst single cover probably Telephone, it seems too cut & paste to me, and I know it's meant to look choppy but I think some of the promo pictures for the video would've been much better. Like imagine if we got this:

I thought it was a taco at first...it's a clam shell :emma:

OT: I love the back haired cover for TFM, mostly because it was Gaga's vision of what it should be.

The Born This Way motorcycle :emma: I feel like it's iconic for it's weirdness, at least. And the edits of Katy Perry's face on a regular bicycle. I do like the one that's just the face more, though, even if it is more plain.

ARTPOP killed me, though. The shimmery foil cover, the colors, the Birth of Venus in the background and the statue in the foreground with Gaga giving birth to the Koon's Orb :flutter: even the broken lettered font was cool looking.

Single covers don't really stand out to me much but Dope's did because it looked like it was MJ inspired with a touch of a drugged up Frankenstein's monster. Which I loved.

The Venus single covers as well as her walking around looking like this:

Got me hyped for the video. It's one of my biggest disappointments that we never got to see it :noparty:

The only one I didn't particularly like at first was Born This Way (album) - but at the end of the day, it doesn't take away from the quality of the music so I just got over it and now I'm used to it lol, I'm not even sure if I dislike it anymore.

I did love all the single covers from ARTPOP though, and TFM album is probably my favourite.

To me, all the album covers does draw an accurate representation of the music

I like all of covers except BTW. I did not get it at all...like you were born a motorcycle? What??? TFM covers are probably my favorite, they're all simple yet very stylish and they compliment the dark sound of the music really nicely in my opinion. As far as single covers go, my favorites are Bad Romance which was gorgeous, and DWUW because of her ass :flutter:

I think she has fantastic cover arts but some of them were a mess, mostly her album ones.

My opinion on the album arts (singles is too much):

Spoiler

The Fame: Severely dislike it, which is painful 'cause it's my favorite Gaga album. It just looks fanmade and unprofessional to me.

The Fame Monster: The standard one is striking for sure but the uneven eyes bother me a bit. I love the EP version, the crying one. That's her best album cover to me. Just magnificent.

Born This Way: Love this one. I get the aesthetic and I love it, though I wish the font looked a bit.. I don't know, it's a bit off, I don't like the edges of the letters. Other than that, killer.

ARTPOP: Tragic, though I love the structure of it. I just really dislike how two of the most famous artworks are on it and I can't bare to look at the legs of the fake sculpture on it. What I love, however, is the Koons ball, especially the reflection. Basically, I think the cover art has amazing ideas, but the execution is really lacking.

Cheek to Cheek: One of the worst artworks I've ever seen and the special edition isn't much better. I can't imagine Gaga agreed to that god-awful editing of the picture. Tony looks particularly awful and Gaga looks unrecognizable. Absolute mess. The Starbucks version is fabulous, however.

Your questions more generally answered:

- I would most definitely replace C2C standard/deluxe with the Starbucks cover.
- Some covers that absolutely came as a shock: Bad Romance (good), TFM (both good), Telephone (bad), BTW (album: good), Yoü and I (good), ARTPOP (bad), Venus (good, except the non-Gaga one), Dope (good), G.U.Y. (bad), C2C (bad except the Starbucks one).
- Some covers that really don't fit the music: Telephone, Venus, G.U.Y.; some that really do fit the music: Bad Romance, Born This Way (single), Judas.
- Best cover of all albums and singles:

- Worst cover of all albums and singles:

I totally agree. When I was buying CTC online, my mother came and asked me if Gaga had had surgery done all over her face (excuse me if this expression isn't right). I feel like they had no time to do a proper cover so they did a photoshoot with a bunch of pictures and chose one randomly
