Her son, Rocco, had wanted to stay in London for Christmas with his British dad, Guy Ritchie, but a judge ordered Wednesday that he return to the U.S. and granted the pop star’s legal request to be reunited with the 15-year-old teen.

Rocco is said to be tired of traveling with the Grammy-winning singer on her Rebel Heart tour, according to the New York Post, and wants to settle down in the U.K. with his dad, who is now remarried with three children. The teen has reportedly refused to board a plane bound to the U.S.

“He has expressed very clearly that he does not want to return to New York,” Ritchie’s attorney Eric Buckley told Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Deborah Kaplan when she ordered him to come home to his mother.

It sucks to have divorced parents.

Also he's 15, she should respect his wishes if he wants to spend more time with his father, it's not easy to live life on the road.

How can she feel good about court forcing him to be with her for holidays? So weird.

It must be so hard for M to be going through this :ohno: Especially while also maintaining the ridiculous level of work that goes into her show

As a 15 years old he should NOT be forced by the law to be with Madonna during the holidays. He's old enough to decide himself.

that's what i thought when i saw this. I thought once ur 14, u can do what you want.

It's interesting though, cuz i always thought of all the children, Madonna and him seemed the closest.

Yeah, i started Law at university and (not yet a profesionnal but) he should be able to do what he wants. Madonna probably paid some thousand dollars so they do what she wants though.

Rocco clearly wants some stability in his life. Sadly he can't have that with his mother's work schedule.

What kind of 15 year old boy wants to spend his life on the road away from his father and friends? Also he is 15 why not respect his wishes?

I find it VERY hard to believe M would force her son to spend time with her. There are no indications she's that terrible of a mom. Until I see some more evidence of such nonsense, I'm marking this as mere tabloid jargon. But, you people will believe anything if its anti-Madonna so I'm not shocked. At all.

Technically speaking, a child has no legal 'right to choose'. By definition, minors are “legal incompetents." This means that they are not recognized by the court as being able make legally binding decisions, including decisions regarding their custody.

Basically in the US it's up to the judge's decision. However, there are some kind of "common agreements"

The legal standard used in all states is “the Best Interests of the Child.” In many States, including Michigan, the Child Custody Act will include the child’s preference among the factors that the court needs to consider in modifying custody.

But once again it depends of the judge.

Of cours it's the judge who choses in the end, but he often choses the side of the children, hence it's best interest, so that,s why i said he can chose, he can be heard. Juges often side with the children when they're old enough, thats why i said he could chose. but in this case madonna's money probably had something to do with it or the lawyer gave some good arguments about why her son should go back to NY.
