Especially a millionaire like Adele who got rich in like two days. Streaming is essential for artists who aren't being promoted the **** out of like her. Annoys me so much.

Think whatever you like about streaming, but every artist would rather sell records than get loads of spins on Spotify. Streaming is just less worse than getting nothing from illegal downloading. But it's still not amazing.

I was very much in support for Troy's idea to scratch the sale of albums completely. It is in fact indeed an absolutely ridiculous idea nowadays. I think we're past the point of paying for something we can't first check out ourselves to see if it's really valuable. Streaming, in that respect, is a massive improvement on illegal downloading ànd it gives a huge platform to a whole host of upcoming artists. The most obvious argument remains generally unspoken though: if I had to buy every album I wanted to listen to I'd be broke within a week.

This isn't even about me being in favor of streaming though. This is about me being tired of rich ass celebrities not being able to see things in perspective.

In my world, every work deserves payment. Nobody's a full-time philanthropist on this planet (and nobody should be). It's very European to consider earning money to be shameful. You may only think about big acts, but there are countless artists who wouldn't be struggling the way they are today if records were still being sold. You're only seeing the part of the problem you want to see.

And let's be honest for a second: if you "check" a record and enjoy it, unless you're a huge fan of the artist, are you actually gonna open your wallet when the thing's available online for free forever and ever? Maybe, but in 10 cases, you'll do it once. Or twice, tops. It's a problem, for sure, I also can't buy all the records I'd want to buy, and that's the economical reality for us customers. But still, I can't be perfectly happy about how things are working today in the entertainment industry.

They're paid by their label though They actually have an income.

And oh, the bs of artists struggling. Artists were struggling back when records were sold too. And now that there are so much more artists out there and having so much more opportunities to send their work into the world, there is no way they would all prosper, for the very simple reason I already mentioned: people are being introduced to massive amounts of music like never before, it's simply unthinkable that people would have to buy every single album they're interested in.

And yeah, I do it rarely but only because an album is rarely so good to know that I will enjoy my purchase for the rest of my life Nothing wrong with that. I mean, I don't hear you complaining about libraries, you wanna close those too? Same system.

The only problem I'm seeing is: I can't afford to buy the music I want to listen to without being broke and there are other opportunities out there. If you consider checking out those possibilities wrong then you must either listen to like three artists or have too much money to realize my logic. I have bought cd's obsessively in the past and now I find that 80% I don't want anymore. That is a waste, not just of money, but also of space and material. Another reason it's outdated.

So no, I still remain utterly unconvinced.

You probably didn't see my edited post, where I admit this is a problem, not just for music but for the entertainment industry (and that goes to your comment about libraries). The only thing I'm saying is that streaming services aren't something to rejoice about. Like I said already, it's just "less worse" than illegal downloading. I also don't purchase all the records, films and books I'd like, and that's a shame.
