There can be many arguments for both sides but I for one still enjoy The Fame album's songs the most so that might influence my opinion. Yeah I can understand that. So what are your arguments for her devolution? My favorite era was Paparrazzi to Fame Monster. I still love songs like Beautiful Dirty Rich but to me Bad Romance was definitely an evolution. Edonis 28,950
I will say this: while some of those comments come from fans who liked that era, have nostalgia, love the bops, etc. A LOT of those comments come from GP fans who didn't care that much about Gaga's artistry, etc. I remember in high school I was in a photoshop class and basically Gaga was at the height of her career in the Fame and then Fame Monster. She was always what people talked about when it came to music whether they liked her or not. There were people in the class who'd be like, I love poker face, I love Alejandro, but the moment Gaga spoke, dressed, or even breathed anyway different from what they wanted her to do, they'd talk about why she's so weird and annoying and how she's changed since _____ (fill in the blank. It could literally be anything). I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are legitimate people out there who actually miss the era and whatever, but there's also a group out there who really couldn't give a damn about whatever era she's in and that they'll always miss something. People who leave those comments seem to forget that she was just as "weird" then as she was in every era to date, the only difference being the music. Lol rant over

Well I think that TF, TFM and BTW had better overall lyrics than AP, like they are smarter, but specially in the TF era I liked that the concept about the inner fame is there on almost all songs on the album. And the music videos in the AP era didn't impress me, I actually found Applause's video very underwhelming. While Poker Face, Paparazzi, Telephone, Alejandro are amazing videos. REALITY 76,234
People want "Lady Gaga" back, recently, we've been getting a lot of "Stefani Germanotta", which I personally like. That being said, you can't say that she hasn't changed her style of music/fashion/art. She's changed her style, but not necessarily who she is. She's always going to be "Lady Gaga", whether she's has a hair-bow or messy clown make-up on. However, the biggest change without a doubt is her music. People have criticized her, especially with ARTPOP, for being too "artsy" and too "eccentric", which to be honest, I don't get. If Gaga was exactly the same person from 2009 right now, she'd be like every other pop star. The fact that she's an ever-changing piece of art is what makes me like her so much. She doesn't stick to the norm even if that means losing money and being the "center of attention" (referring to ARTPOP here). I, for one, appreciate that she's going on her own path and not worrying about what others think. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎

Nino 12
She used to be a slightly different pop girl. arthurhmangum 4,408
The old gaga = the fame/monster gaga. People started to not like her or got disinterested when she started getting more simplistic around the Born This Way era. I don't blame them. I miss the old her, but I'm looking forward to the new era. Stressed, depressed, but well dressed.

Ok I get that and I somewhat agree. IMO The Applause video was messy because it's theme was more about the album theme than the theme of the song itself. I didn't find it underwhelming. I found G.U.Y. Extremely underwhelming. After I saw that video I knew the ARTPOP era was over. I hoped for a video for Gypsy to fix it but that never happened. I do like the ARTPOP era but it wasn't my fave era either. i think in ARTPOP she put too many ideas into her videos. I think the lyrics are good in ARTPOP but I think the theme of the album is all over the place. It should have been ADHDPOP. Also we are talking about ARTPOP but she's already evolved past that era and she has the Grammy Award and acting nominations to prove it. Quasi 10,922
Back when I was younger, I would also say that I miss FameGa. The makeup, the clothes, the music of that era is what got me to be a fan of hers. But as I got older I began to realize that nobody around me was the same person they were when I was a child, so how can I expect any different from Gaga. She's human and she's allowed to change. If we all can do it and allow OURSELVES to change then why the hell are we so concerned about keeping Gaga in this box? That's nothing more than entitlement really. The GP want Gaga to stay FameGa and they think they deserve that, when really they don't deserve anything at all because Gaga isn't ours to control. She has every right to evolve, and change and mess up, and I welcome that with open arms because not doing so is just doing her a major disservice. I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas.
