Guest
Not a fan of continuously comparing two amazing records, but congrats! It's amazing seeing people find interest in spending money for the music they like.
djBuffoon 12,125
Undeniable power, even if the album is nowhere near as good as is purported, by some, to be.

StrawberryBlond 14,921
My only question is: how long can she keep this up? If this continues, it'll be one very short era as everyone will have bought it within the first 3 months. Once Christmas and January sales are over, will there be anyone left who still hasn't bought a copy? Will it have singles that are even remotely successful because everyone already has them on the album which they bought? There's no point in even releasing more singles, only for them to flop. No sooner has this era started then it's going to end again. And it'll definitely be another mammoth wait until the next one as Adele has proved that she likes to chill out between eras. It looks as if my sales prediction could be a lot closer than originally anticipated. I settled on 10-12 million worldwide. Little did I know it was going to sell over 9 million in just 3 weeks. Looks like she ended up having more loyal fans than I gave her credit for. I notice that a lot of people who supported Taylor (not really referring to people here, just in general), are now against her, saying that 1989 is so overrated and that Adele is superior in every way. It's like, the public made Taylor overrated, so why are they having a change of heart all of a sudden? It just shows you how quickly we move on from the "it girl" and not only that, but she tends to get demonised when this happens. i said this would happen to Taylor after this era wrapped up but no one believed me. You'd think Gaga fans of all people would know the warning signs were there.

They're for Adele now because the public has bought into the hype and its someone else to talk about after a year of Taylor domination. But they'll go right back to praising her once TS6 releases. Everyone was "over" T-Swizzle after Red, but then, 1989 happened. Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Her last era is simply winding down. That doesn't mean she didn't have some amazing accomplishments with 1989. Of course, Taylor's numbers pale in comparison to Adele's, but so does every other artist in the past five years, or so. People don't believe you, because so much of what you predict never happens or comes true, and what you have been predicting with Taylor hasn't happened either. I can't believe they would stan for a generic album over 25 bc of envy. Sad. AC is one of the most generic genres ever, but get those likes!!! I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. Near equal Metacritic scores, but 1989 showed up in more year end lists and in higher positions. 25 didn't even land on P4K's list. That awkward moment when the album that most GGD users consider the epitome of art and music has a lower Metascore than the album they love to hate (albeit by one point). Hell, 25's user score isn't even that far ahead of 1989's user score. There's just a .6 difference. Poor Tayters. Y'all can't deal with this acclaim, not even by jumping on the Adele bandwagon. AC songs rarely crossover nowadays unless you're Adele/P!nk/Bruno/Rih. 1989 is an album full of max martin song. Remember how this fanbase dragged Katy bc of her max martin produced albums? When you think about it, that only shows how transparent this fanbase is. "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body."

Being generic doesn't necessarily equate to being popular. Even Adele can't resist the charm of Max Martin, someone who's collaborated with people Adele stans and bandwagoners love to hate. Poor dat. JeffSwift 314
So, lets talk about your faves latest album...did 25 outsell it in a week? oh ok. Comparing the two top artists in the music industry isn't a drag. Oh by the way, 1989 > 25. 21 was far superior even though 25 was a good album. People don't believe you, because so much of what you predict never happens or comes true, and what you have been predicting with Taylor hasn't happened either. I've seen it on every online article that compares 25's sales to 1989's. The article shades her and then the comments are filled with "Taylor's so overrated anyway," "How that 1989 sold so much, I'll never know," "Adele sells more because she can actually sing," etc, etc. When an article was made on the Daily Mail about the Bad Blood record being broken, the top rated comment (1490 thumbs up, 37 thumbs down) said: "Shows that you don't have to promote all month long and have countless fake celebrity friends in a video." Just look up one of Taylor's records that Adele broke, find a paper reporting on it and check out the comments. This is the first time Taylor has become the it girl on a worldwide scale. She's only been the it girl in America every two years until now. A true it girl is supposed to be worldwide. Yes, she had amazing accomplishments and of course everyone's sales look weak in comparison now but I'm just saying that it's very telling that the people are dragging her when she's still the second most successful female, hardly a flop. It shows we really are tiring of her is what I'm saying. Granted, a lot of what I predict doesn't happen, but I have been partly right on this one. You can't deny that after Bad Blood, a media backlash towards Taylor has been slowly growing. In the last few months she's been accused of...*deep breath* having an explicit photo of herself being out there somewhere, being ignorant about race issues during her Twitter fight with Nicki, taking coke at the VMAs, cheating on Calvin with a backing dancer, being racist in the Wildest Dreams video...not to mention, the constant reports of her taking Spotify to task and trying to trademark generic lyrics which are painted in a way to make her out to be greedy. Almost all of this is BS but regardless, the media only posts rumours like this when they want to bring a celebrity down - they didn't do this at the beginning when everyone was loving her. Doesn't this remind you of how Gaga suddenly fell from her pedestal? How she became a victim of her own success? It starts with huge success...which turns into overexposure...which turns into a media backlash...and ends with an underperfoming follow up album and a career downturn. Its happened to countless others but the Swifities seem to think she's untouchable. They could be in for a big shock as its happened to the most unlikeliest of names.
